PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Athenian School seeks a full-time computer science teacher for the Upper School, teaching courses that span introductory programming through advanced work in data structures and algorithms and software engineering. Successful candidates will have demonstrated the desire to, and capabilities for, collaboratively generating curriculum and classroom practices that help students develop computational habits of mind and learn the specific skills necessary to express and apply them. Such candidates will also be drawn to meaningfully contribute to finding ways to express Athenian’s Pillars in our classrooms: Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership, Service. In addition to instruction, teachers at Athenian are expected to participate in community life through a variety of programs, events, and opportunities. 

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Successful candidates will bring strong cultural competency and the capacity to work with students, families and colleagues who represent a broad range of identities and experiences. We seek candidates that have experience teaching high computer science, solid classroom management skills and the ability to teach multiple levels of computer science in a project based setting.  Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in computer science or a related field.

In addition to these responsibilities, faculty also have the opportunity to coach a sport for a supplemental stipend.
