General Summary of the Position : Perform tasks necessary for the day to day operation of a water treatment facility, which includes the operation and maintenance of water wells, distribution system, wastewater treatment plant, collection system, and pump stations.  Works with and assists other crew members to maintain these systems. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Prior experience reading and understanding maps and drawings. Basic mathematical and writing skills. Communication and people skills to work successfully with fellow employees. Ability to read meters and gauges and complete reports. Ability to trouble shoot mechanical and electrical problems Knowledge of plumbing for water and wastewater systems. Knowledge and understanding of the proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in the maintenance of water and wastewater facilities and systems. Required Education, Training and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Class D Water or Class 3 Wastewater Operator Certification preferred.Ability to obtain one required. Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a water/wastewater operator preferred. Prior experience in plumbing of water/wastewater systems (mains, service lines, and water meters). Valid appropriate state driver’s license (general operator license) required; Class A or B CDL strongly preferred. Work Environment: Regularly work near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, asphalt, water, and sewage. Ability to work in trenches and other confined spaces. Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object. General Summary of the Position:

Perform tasks necessary for the day to day operation of a water treatment facility, which includes the operation and maintenance of water wells, distribution system, wastewater treatment plant, collection system, and pump stations.  Works with and assists other crew members to maintain these systems.
