Job Summary
The Commercial Loan Processor acts as a liaison between Loan Officers and Loan Operations by obtaining requested supporting data and documents on all loan requests. Will ensure efficiency in the receipt, distribution and confirmation of any orders and file requirements to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, provide daily administrative and customer service support to ensure a smooth workflow between various departments, to include but not limited to responsibility for scanning all loan documents received in Loan Operations into the Imaging system, obtaining and reviewing all pre-closing documentation to ensure all policy requirements are met, maintaining open and effective communication with the Commercial Lending Officers, Underwriters, Closing Team, Portfolio, Fiscal and the Loan Operations team to ensure efficiency throughout the loan process.
Primary Responsibilities
- Pulls Credit Reports, Bridgers, OFAC and Suspension and Debarment (SAM) Reports
- Orders and reviews Flood Determinations and Environmental reviews and recommends further action if needed to ensure compliance
- Orders Appraisals and bids through the third-party appraisal management system and communicates the status to loan officers, borrowers and the commercial lending team, as applicable
- Daily Monitoring and Maintenance of the Appraisal spreadsheet
- Responsible for the initial review and set-up of data in the Tax Monitoring System
- Ensure Proficiency in the use and maintenance of all vendor systems
- Process Payments, Wires, Participations, Disbursements and Pay-off's
- Assist with Cancellation of Recorded documents as applicable ensuring that all liens are released efficiently
- Load Commercial Loans into the Commercial Loan System
- Ensure all Documents received are scanned into the Imaging System
- Maintain Commercial Loan Files to ensure all required documents are in order and complete
- Assist with Special Projects as needed
- Provide support to Commercial Loan Operations AVP and Commercial Loan Administrator
- Must be able to take necessary actions to resolve deficiencies, follow up and make recommendations to loan processing procedures, and escalate any issues to appropriate level in a timely manner
- Adapt to change in the work environment, manage competing demands and handle frequent changes.
- Respond to all levels of communication in a timely and professional manner
- Performs other related duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.
- Assures compliance with all Credit Union policies, procedures and processes, and all applicable state and federal banking laws, rules and regulations; adheres to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) responsibilities that are specific to the position.
- Attend meetings in person and/or via Webex
- Conduct research and run reports as requested by members of cross functional departments
- Accuracy and completeness of initial reports for commercial loan requests.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma, or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the banking, or financial services industry (i.e., loan processing, customer service, loan operations)
- High attention to detail and good time management skills
- Ability to work with strong sense of urgency and respond to internal/external customers in a timely manner
- Must be able to manage competing priorities and prioritize projects with multiple deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work onsite in Jackson, MS
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
- Experience using loan processing system (i.e., Nortridge NLS) is a plus
- Experience working in loan operations or customer service is highly preferred
- Basic proficiency using MS Office Outlook, Word and Excel
- Experience using NextGen loan origination and document warehousing system
- Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence.
- Must be able to interact effectively with internal and external customers of all levels in a professional manner across the organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and interpret data.
- Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision via various forms of communication
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
