About the Job Under moderate supervision, an Instrumentation and Controls Technician works cross-functionally with Engineering, EHS, Operations, Production, R&D teams to support the rapid scale up and operations of our Lithium Battery Recycling facility. The ideal candidate has experience working in an industrial manufacturing setting with extensive hands-on repair experience. The candidate will be a problem-solver with a broad understanding of process automation systems, industrial instrumentation, and 480V and below power systems. The candidate will monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate control systems. This position will report to our Maintenance Manager. Responsibilities Troubleshoot and correct system upsets in process system instrumentation and PLC programming Install, terminate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and controls equipment and instrumentation Support the electrical and controls engineering group in troubleshooting, installing, upgrading and commissioning new installation of control systems hardware and software Calibrate industrial instrumentation including gas analyzers, pressure instruments, and temperature instruments Produce as-built drawing markups for delivery to the design team for recording Adjusting system components or removing and replacing defective parts Troubleshoot 480V systems such as variable frequency drives and motor starters Troubleshoot industrial networking components Uses complex electrical schematics and blueprints to troubleshoot and correct problems Provides excellent customer service Complete tasks in a timely manner and provides feedback Minimum Required Qualifications 3-5 years of experience working on process automation and/or electromechanical systems. Working knowledge of low voltage electrical systems from 24VDC to 480VAC Working knowledge in using hand tools, multi-meters, and testing equipment Ability to perform skilled termination of controls devices Ability to read and comprehend wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and P&ID drawings Ability to read and interpret electrical prints and schematics Strong knowledge in troubleshooting of motor controls, variable frequency drives, programmable controllers and other electronic components Strong understanding of controls valves, dampers, and associated actuators Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot PLC code Ability to positively collaborate in a team environment Preferred Qualifications Strong understanding of HVAC and process instrumentation (pressure, level, differential pressure, temperature and analytical) Working knowledge of networking and telecommunication wiring Physical Demands Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods. American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) provides technical development and commercialization of domestic, sustainable sourcing of critical battery materials through lithium-ion battery recycling and battery metal extraction technologies for use in batteries that power electric cars, grid storage applications, and consumer electronics and tools. Our first of kind systems produce commercial-scale battery materials that are sold into the battery manufacturing supply chain.

About the Job

Under moderate supervision, an Instrumentation and Controls Technician works cross-functionally with Engineering, EHS, Operations, Production, R&D teams to support the rapid scale up and operations of our Lithium Battery Recycling facility.

The ideal candidate has experience working in an industrial manufacturing setting with extensive hands-on repair experience. The candidate will be a problem-solver with a broad understanding of process automation systems, industrial instrumentation, and 480V and below power systems. The candidate will monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate control systems. This position will report to our Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and correct system upsets in process system instrumentation and PLC programming
  • Install, terminate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and controls equipment and instrumentation
  • Support the electrical and controls engineering group in troubleshooting, installing, upgrading and commissioning new installation of control systems hardware and software
  • Calibrate industrial instrumentation including gas analyzers, pressure instruments, and temperature instruments
  • Produce as-built drawing markups for delivery to the design team for recording
  • Adjusting system components or removing and replacing defective parts
  • Troubleshoot 480V systems such as variable frequency drives and motor starters
  • Troubleshoot industrial networking components
  • Uses complex electrical schematics and blueprints to troubleshoot and correct problems
  • Provides excellent customer service
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner and provides feedback

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience working on process automation and/or electromechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of low voltage electrical systems from 24VDC to 480VAC
  • Working knowledge in using hand tools, multi-meters, and testing equipment
  • Ability to perform skilled termination of controls devices
  • Ability to read and comprehend wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and P&ID drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical prints and schematics
  • Strong knowledge in troubleshooting of motor controls, variable frequency drives, programmable controllers and other electronic components
  • Strong understanding of controls valves, dampers, and associated actuators
  • Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot PLC code
  • Ability to positively collaborate in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of HVAC and process instrumentation (pressure, level, differential pressure, temperature and analytical)
  • Working knowledge of networking and telecommunication wiring
