Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Plays, interacts with and supervises play activities of children. Ensures the safety of the children during play activities
• Checks children in and out of the facility to the proper guardian
• Determines applicability of grace period and appropriate charges for care. Collects payment
• Cleans the classroom and disinfects toys and other frequently handled objects
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age

Experience: Experience in childcare and customer service preferred

Licenses and/or Certifications Required:

• CPR and First Aid Certifications are required; or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire (which can be obtained at the Recreation Center)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Skill in performing CPR and First Aid
• Skill in caring for children and responding to their needs
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions in accordance with established Town policies and procedures
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, supervisor and coworkers

Physical Demands:

• Physical ability to lift and hold children
• Physical ability to push, pull, lift up to 75 lbs.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing
• Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment
• Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
• Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens

Work Environment:

• Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment

Equipment Used:

• This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.

Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check prior to commencing employment.
