Job Summary Senior Gas Trader procures short-term physical natural gas supplies for resale to the company's retail gas customers and the company's gas-fired power generation facilities in accordance with company procedures. Administers the sale and/or release of the company's gas pipeline transportation rights and excess gas supplies. Schedules gas deliveries on the interstate pipelines to ensure proper balancing of supply and demand. This is a remote position that can be based out of Iowa or Wisconsin with occasional business travel requirements. What you will do Solicits bids for and negotiates the purchase and sale of physical natural gas commodity for periods up to 60 days in advance. Makes decisions on purchases and sales in accordance with management directives. Ensures all purchases and sales of gas are fully documented and summarized for accounting and billing purposes. Monitors reports, electronic bulletin boards, and interacts with contacts at pipeline companies to track key volume activity accounts (imbalance, storage levels, etc.) and takes corrective action as necessary. Implements strategies developed by leadership for minimizing ratepayer gas costs. Tracks costs, profits and savings from negotiations and trades for management and accounting reporting. Makes regulatory filings under management direction. Assists in the negotiation of interstate pipeline contracts. Schedules gas on the interstate pipelines and monitors system demand to adjust supplies as necessary, including weekend and holiday coverage. Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in economics, accounting, business administration, engineering, or related area Preferred Required Experience 3 years of experience in energy trading, scheduling, risk management, forecasting, engineering, or equivalent analytical or financial experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated understanding of public utility economics, operations and market economics and finance concepts preferred. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to plan and carry out responsibilities and make decisions with moderate direction. Job Summary

Senior Gas Trader procures short-term physical natural gas supplies for resale to the company's retail gas customers and the company's gas-fired power generation facilities in accordance with company procedures. Administers the sale and/or release of the company's gas pipeline transportation rights and excess gas supplies. Schedules gas deliveries on the interstate pipelines to ensure proper balancing of supply and demand.

This is a remote position that can be based out of Iowa or Wisconsin with occasional business travel requirements.

What you will do

  • Solicits bids for and negotiates the purchase and sale of physical natural gas commodity for periods up to 60 days in advance. Makes decisions on purchases and sales in accordance with management directives. Ensures all purchases and sales of gas are fully documented and summarized for accounting and billing purposes.

  • Monitors reports, electronic bulletin boards, and interacts with contacts at pipeline companies to track key volume activity accounts (imbalance, storage levels, etc.) and takes corrective action as necessary.

  • Implements strategies developed by leadership for minimizing ratepayer gas costs.

  • Tracks costs, profits and savings from negotiations and trades for management and accounting reporting. Makes regulatory filings under management direction.

  • Assists in the negotiation of interstate pipeline contracts.

  • Schedules gas on the interstate pipelines and monitors system demand to adjust supplies as necessary, including weekend and holiday coverage.

  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy's Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in economics, accounting, business administration, engineering, or related area Preferred

  • 3 years of experience in energy trading, scheduling, risk management, forecasting, engineering, or equivalent analytical or financial experience
