Stanley Consultants is seeking a Student Intern to work in our Water/Wastewater and Environmental Departments. Travel between the Coralville (Iowa City) and Muscatine Iowa offices will be required.

This Intern will work part time in our Water/Wastewater department participating in studies, designs, quantity takeoff's, computations, and AutoCAD drafting in our Muscatine, IA office. This intern will also work in our Environmental Department in our Coralville, Iowa office developing an understanding of environmental site evaluations. This unique position will allow the Intern to gain experience from a variety of engineers and locations.

This is a temporary position with the potential to lead to full-time employment in the future.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Knowledge of Microstation, AutoCAD, Revit, or GIS software is a plus.
  • The ideal candidate will have an interest in water, wastewater, water resources, and environmental issues, and will be enthusiastic and willing to learn.
  • Responsibilities include assisting with engineering tasks such as the collection and analysis of data; checking design computations and quantity estimates; preparing preliminary calculations and designs of treatment processes, piping, and pumping facilities; assisting with the development of reports, specifications, and plans, developing an understanding of environmental site evaluations, and review of environmental site assessment documents and reports.
  • Periodic travel, client meetings, and field work may be required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil/Environmental or related Engineering program
  • Must be at least a college sophomore, preferably a junior
  • Must have an interest in water wastewater, water reuse and/or water treatment, and environmental engineering
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit, and/or GIS software is a plus
  • Must possess strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must possess good writing skills
