Job Description Maintenance Engineer- Cedar Rapids, IA Summary: This position will focus on improving plant reliability by incorporating precision maintenance practices into equipment repairs and rebuilds. Maintenance Engineer- Cedar Rapids, IA

Summary:

This position will focus on improving plant reliability by incorporating precision maintenance practices into equipment repairs and rebuilds. This includes training and coaching of maintenance technicians as well as developing standards and procedures.

Specific Job Duties

  • Perform duties in a safe manner, utilizing all safety equipment, and successfully completes all safety certification requirements. Help ensure the maintenance department meets goals for safety and health, environment, product quality, processing, costs and effectiveness.
  • Responsible for providing technical expertise to the Maintenance Team to improve the overall equipment efficiency\systems performance and reliability.
  • Contributes to the analysis of actual equipment design and assists in the performance of failure mode and effect analysis.
  • Works with Engineering Teams to develop new approaches for maintaining new and existing equipment.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to mechanics, engineers and contractors on Maintenance Strategies and Technologies.
  • Writes and updates maintenance procedures and other pertinent documents.
  • Provides plant engineering with technical support on reliability issues.
  • Supports execution of RCM process on existing equipment.
  • Works with Planners to improve planning process and develop job plans through periodic job audits.
  • Works with the Reliability Engineer to integrate PM's and predictive/diagnostic work into the Preventive Maintenance Program.
  • Audits compliance for Food Safety and Quality Precision Maintenance into the Maintenance Program.
  • May perform reasonably similar or related duties as assigned

Preferred Skills:

  • Must possess outstanding interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to plan and prioritize effectively.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours to support continuous production. (off hours, weekends, etc.)
  • Familiarity with GMP, FDA, and OSHA regulations is preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Willing and able to spend time in plant areas (i.e. walk long distances, stand, climb stairs and ladders and move through close spaces) to understand and audit the process.
  • Able to understand and align with plant GMP and personnel practice requirements.
