Assumes responsibility for the management of clinical and supportive activities and allocation of human resources of the unit on a designated shift. Coaches and supports the team in accomplishing the unit and hospital mission. Ensures that care is delivered by those who are competent/trained to do so according to the patient population, level of technology required, complexity of care needs, and the age of the patient. Responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care for post-operative and acute care patients requiring hospitalization. Assumes the responsibility for the outcome of nursing care during a specified work period. Collaborates with all available nursing personnel to provide total patient care. Position Highlights

Spencer Hospital is a rural hospital located in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital.

Full-Time or Weekend Package positions qualify for hiring incentives paid out over a 3 year period. The amount of incentives offered may be discussed during the interview process.

Responsibilities:

  • A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates, and coordinates patient care to the acutely ill patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
  • Assumes responsibility for the management of clinical and supportive activities and allocation of human resources of the unit on a designated shift.
  • Coaches and supports the team in accomplishing the unit and hospital mission.
  • Ensures that care is delivered by those who are competent/trained to do so according to the patient population, level of technology required, complexity of care needs, and the age of the patient.
  • Responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care for post-operative and acute care patients requiring hospitalization.
  • Assumes the responsibility for the outcome of nursing care during a specified work period.
  • Collaborates with all available nursing personnel to provide total patient care.
  • Must have knowledge of and utilize appropriate age-related patient protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of patients.

Requirements:

  • 3 years RN in an acute care setting
  • Previous Charge Nurse or Team Leader experience preferred
  • Must be a caring communicator, flexible, able to multitask and be comfortable with technological systems
  • IA RN license or compact state
  • Must have or be willing to obtain upon hire BLS, ACLS, PEARS or PALS and NCI - inhouse certification available

Schedule:

  • Fri, Sat, Sun- Days- 7a-7p
  • Weekend Package Incentive Pay Included! Choose with or without benefits: With benefits: Pay is 10% higher than base pay or without benefits: Pay is 33% higher than base pay
  • Additional weekend incentive of 8 hours paid at base wage on bi-weekly paycheck
  • 42 out of 52 weekends or 126 shifts per year
  • 10 weekends or 30 shifts off per year but may work additional during the week and weekends if there is a need
  • The schedule may fluctuate based upon the needs of the department
