Red Oak, Iowa is home to our components plant which manufactures PowerFrame grids. We have been recognized by the state of Iowa as a renewable energy partner and have received the MidAmerican Energy Clean Air Excellence Award . We opened in 2003 and employ more than 80 people and operate six days per week. Our employees give back to the community through a variety of organizations, including The United Way, Wilson Performing Arts Center, and Relay 4 Life. What you will be doing! Operation of Caster -- Start up and operation of strip caster will include monitoring lead temperature, lead flow, tundish level, pool level, and caster speed. Operator will be responsible for belt, snout, dump box, and tundish condition and will perform routine product changeovers and maintenance when necessary. Good vision required to watch the lead pool in the caster to make adjustments as necessary. Operation of Rolling Mill -- Start up and operation of the rolling mill will include monitoring pinch roll, level of accumulator, slab thickness reduction, coolant levels (concentrations) and winding of lead strip. Operator will be responsible for thread up of the rolling mill, operation of the strip take up, and strip coil changes. Routine maintenance on all associated equipment will be part of the requirements. The ability to lift slabs of lead up to 40 lbs is needed periodically in this role. Operation of the Press -- Start up and operation of the press will include transfer of the strip coil to the payout, threading of the strip through the press/die, and monitoring the continuous operation of the press. Operation will be responsible for lubrication levels, grid progression, grid take up operation, scrap return, and removal of wound grids. Routine maintenance on all associated equipment will be part of the requirements. This position also requires using touch screens to make adjustments to equipment as needed. The operator will also be responsible for the efficient changeover of dies for various grid types. Operation of Lead Pot -- The operator will perform pot drossing, melting of scrap, operation of reclaim pot, material handling, and cleanup tasks to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the equipment. Routine maintenance of equipment will be performed including snout, belt, roll cleaner, striper, die and other associated equipment. The operator will be required to assist the shift maintenance with equipment PM, breakdowns, and other routine maintenance. Complies with the Lock Out, Tag Out and Electrical Procedures. To assist in the training of new personnel to perform work assignments safely and efficiently. They will follow the environmental regulations for the proper handling of hazardous waste material. Will be responsible to perform necessary quality checks and to follow the proper procedures for non-conforming product.
