HDR is seeking a Business Group Manager (BGM) to lead and grow our Building Engineering Services (BES) Business Group in the Idaho Area. This position works in partnership with the Idaho Area Operations Manager and the BES Regional Business Group Director, along with all of HDR's Business Groups and Market Sectors, and coordinates business practices and project delivery services in the Company that require building engineering design. In the role of Area Business Group Manager for the Building Engineering Services Business Group in Idaho, we'll count on you to help shape the future of multidisciplinary design both locally and across the region: Lead and Grow: Build and lead a high-performing design team across multiple disciplines - Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Control Systems, Fire Protection, and BIM. HDR is seeking a Business Group Manager (BGM) to lead and grow our Building Engineering Services (BES) Business Group in the Idaho Area.

This position works in partnership with the Idaho Area Operations Manager and the BES Regional Business Group Director, along with all of HDR's Business Groups and Market Sectors, and coordinates business practices and project delivery services in the Company that require building engineering design.

In the role of Area Business Group Manager for the Building Engineering Services Business Group in Idaho, we'll count on you to help shape the future of multidisciplinary design both locally and across the region:

  • Lead and Grow: Build and lead a high-performing design team across multiple disciplines - Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Control Systems, Fire Protection, and BIM.
  • Inspire Excellence: Foster a strong team culture focused on quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead with Purpose: Support company policies, mentor technical staff, and contribute to planning, proposals, and client engagement.
  • Drive Impact: Support projects in multiple diverse markets. Take responsibility for program development strategies, new business prospects, technical services, quality, and production methods and standards, all within established goals and objectives of the business group, region and company
  • Manage Operations: Develop, implement and maintain an effective area business group program for the Building Engineering Services team. Collaborate in preparation of annual revenue forecasts and budgets. Monitor performance of the business group. Help identify and win projects that match the expertise and developmental goals of the staff.
  • Deliver Projects: Serve as a Project Manager, Program Manager, and/or Principal-In-Charge as applicable
  • Collaborate Broadly: Work closely with regional and national leaders across business groups to align strategy, support marketing efforts, and drive growth.
  • Perform other duties as needed

  • Maintain a professional or engineering registration and have related technical experience
  • Strategic thinking to balance technical leadership with business development.
  • Strong project management skills and a passion for delivering high-quality work.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration across teams and markets.

  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • A minimum of 10 years experience
  • Demonstrated experience with leading diverse teams
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values

  • Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other area business group directors, technical directors and marketing managers
