Responsible to perform pre-trip duties such as to review driver itinerary and check route details for assigned deliveries; check customer invoices, may move tractors to the loading dock to attach the preloaded trailers and if necessary, maintain required trailer temperature . Responsible to perform post-trip duties such as to unload damaged, customer returns products and ensure necessary paperwork is attached; unhook and secure the trailer; refill fuel; park and secure the tractor and hand truck; complete DOT logs and record all deliveries/pickup made, reconcile records with the appropriate company representative as required. Perform simple vehicle maintenance (i.e. clean interiors and exteriors, take vehicle for state inspection, filling tires with air, etc.). Job Description

Waste Connections is hiring Driver Helpers in Miami, FL! Are you passionate about working outdoors, growing your career, and sharing our #1 value: SAFETY? If so, we want you to join our team!

Pay: $21–$25/hr, depending on experience

Work Week: 50–60 hours per week, with rotating weekends as needed

POSITION SUMMARY:

In this physically active position, you will assist a garbage truck driver with the collection of residential or commercial waste on a designated route. This role involves heavy lifting, walking/running short distances, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.

We are specifically looking for motivated individuals who are interested in obtaining a CDL within the next 2–3 years. This is an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career in a stable, growing industry.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Ride on the back of a rear load garbage truck and assist with collecting waste and recyclables
  • Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Work safely and efficiently to complete daily routes
  • Support the driver by maintaining awareness of surroundings and helping with navigation as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly throughout the day
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
  • Willingness and motivation to pursue a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 2–3 years
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
  • VETERAN are encouraged to apply.
