The Lead Driver is responsible for operating a Class A truck to transport life-saving medical products to our local customers. The Lead Driver plays a critical role in building positive relationships with our customers by ensuring timely, accurate, and safe deliveries. Job Description Responsibilities: Encourage success of the local transportation team - serving as a motivator and resource to drivers. Serve as a liaison between the local transportation team and management – communicating goals to drivers and escalating information to management when needed. Load and secure product from the Medline Facility into a truck. Safely operate a Class A or Class B vehicle between the Medline Facility and multiple customer destinations on a delivery route. Abide by Medline’s safety regulations, including wearing safety equipment where needed, performing safety checks, etc. Unload and deliver product at our customer facilities, ensuring timely deliveries. Job Summary: The Straight Truck Driver will move parts, goods, and other merchandise from one location to another. Pay Rate: $20.00 - $25.00 depending on experience Reports to: General Manager or Operations Manager Duties/Responsibilities: Must have driven and delivered product using a Bobtail and have a current drivers license Utilize Electronic Logging Device (ELD) when under dispatched jobs Plans and completes an efficient delivery and pick up route for the day. Loads delivery vehicle with parcels scheduled for delivery. Delivers parcels to correct addresses, obtaining signatures and proof of receipt when necessary. Picks up parcels along the scheduled route, including items to be returned, company orders, and other items as requested. Ensures that delivery vehicle receives basic service according to maintenance schedule; reports larger service needs and mechanical issues to supervisor. Cleans vehicles, check in unit to include fuel receipts Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: Ability to drive safely. Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps. Ability to plan delivery routes. Ability to maintain basic logs and records. Ability to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision. Able to remain professional and courteous at all times. Education and Experience: Valid Class B driver’s license and clean driving record. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. As a Truck Captain – Junk Removal & Move Specialist, you are the first point of contact for clients on the job. Go out of your way to be friendly (smile, eye contact, small-talk) to everyone whom you come in contact with throughout the day – especially your clients.
  • Look, act and become a friendly college hunk – starting with the uniform (shirt tucked in, hat straight, pants at waist), and continuing with your attitude (smiles and eye contact).
  • Educate clients about pricing and services and the benefit to them prior to giving an estimate, ensuring 110% satisfaction.
  • SAFELY operate the junk truck at all times.
  • Make sure all daily truck inspections are performed (tire pressure, oil, equipment, etc).
  • Make sure truck has enough receipts, safety equipment and marketing material.
  • Price jobs aggressively, meeting and surpassing benchmarks.
  • Be able to make logistical decisions (when to disposal, how to best complete a job, when to leave Wingman behind, how to market during downtime).
  • Lead your team by relevant example, showing them what the core values of the company are all about.
  • Help to train new hires about the day to day operations and core values.
  • Complete Daily Checklists.
  • Prevent careless and costly mistakes, including damage, injury, unhappy clients, lost equipment, etc.
