Responsibilities Perform gross examination and processing of tissue specimens. Accession specimens into the computer system following established protocols. Prepare tissue specimens through embedding, cutting, and staining procedures. Perform special stains as requested by pathologists. Prepare and cover-slip tissue slides. Assist pathologists with surgical and frozen sections. May serve as backup morgue assistant including: assisting pathologists during autopsies, managing specimen identification and setup, performing body closure procedures, conducting cleanup operations. Maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance. Document all procedures in the Laboratory Information System. Follow quality control procedures and maintain proper documentation. Participate in quality assurance activities and maintain CAP compliance. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field from an accredited institution. Current certification as a Histotechnologist (HT) through ASCP. Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in Histology and Cytology. Strong knowledge of tissue preparation and staining techniques. Experience with computerized laboratory information systems. Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to pass a federal background check; US Citizenship required. Overview

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting Histology Technologist to support the White River Junction VA Medical Center located at 215 N Main St, White River Junction, VT 05009. Responsibilities

  • Perform gross examination and processing of tissue specimens. 
  • Accession specimens into the computer system following established protocols. 
  • Prepare tissue specimens through embedding, cutting, and staining procedures. 
  • Perform special stains as requested by pathologists. 
  • Prepare and cover-slip tissue slides. 
  • Assist pathologists with surgical and frozen sections. 
  • May serve as backup morgue assistant including: assisting pathologists during autopsies, managing specimen identification and setup, performing body closure procedures, conducting cleanup operations.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance. 
  • Document all procedures in the Laboratory Information System. 
  • Follow quality control procedures and maintain proper documentation. 
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and maintain CAP compliance. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field from an accredited institution. 
  • Current certification as a Histotechnologist (HT) through ASCP. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in Histology and Cytology. 
  • Strong knowledge of tissue preparation and staining techniques. 
  • Experience with computerized laboratory information systems. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to pass a federal background check; US Citizenship required.

  • Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
  • Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
  • Lift up to 20 lbs
  • Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
  • Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
