Transfers prescription information to another pharmacy. Transfers medications to patients after prescription has been prepared and processed. Assists in filling prescriptions by counting manually or with a pill counter. Manufactures, packages and labels drug products. Stocks medications properly. Adheres to the terms and conditions set forth in BSHC's corporate compliance program. Ensures confidential information in accordance with BSHC's policy and current HIPAA regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED. Current Pharmacy Technician Licensure through the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy. Previous pharmacy experience is preferred. Maintains knowledge of pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols common to the prescribing, dispensing, and charting of medications in the organization. Primary Responsibilities: Prepare prescription orders by verifying information and pulling appropriate prescriptions from inventory Apply labels to medication packaging, scan and assemble into appropriate bins in an accurate and timely manner Communicate inventory needs to ensure adequate supply of medication available to complete all orders Assist in maintaining inventory at appropriate levels, including removing expired or unused meds, marking used bottles and keeping inventory neat and arranged in-order Consistently meet pharmacy's established accuracy and productivity levels Work collaboratively with other supervisors/functional areas to keep work flowing smoothly and efficiently Maintain clean and orderly workstation. Put medications away and replenish all stock supplies needed Comply with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the dispensing of prescription medications Other essential functions and duties may be assigned as needed You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. REGISTERED PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

JOB SUMMARY

Registered Pharmacy Technician provides efficient and effective distribution of prescription orders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obtains and fills prescription orders under supervision of the Pharmacist.

  • Assists in inventory management, as well as monitoring and maintaining stock.

  • Prepares and maintains logs and reports as assigned.

  • Maintains a good understanding of 340 B policies and procedures.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of the general chemical and physical properties of drugs handled in the pharmacy.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of Federal and State Law governing the practice of Pharmacy and the distribution of controlled substances.

  • Under guidelines established by the Pharmacist, the Registered Pharmacy Technician may be authorized to perform the following functions:

  • Accepts prescriptions by telephone from a Provider.

  • Transfers prescription information to another pharmacy.

  • Transfers medications to patients after prescription has been prepared and processed.

  • Assists in filling prescriptions by counting manually or with a pill counter.

  • Manufactures, packages and labels drug products.

  • Stocks medications properly.

  • Adheres to the terms and conditions set forth in BSHC's corporate compliance program.

  • Ensures confidential information in accordance with BSHC's policy and current HIPAA regulations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Current Pharmacy Technician Licensure through the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy.
  • Previous pharmacy experience is preferred.
  • Maintains knowledge of pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols common to the prescribing, dispensing, and charting of medications in the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Moderate amount of walking and standing.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
