The Manager, Pharmacy provides managerial and programmatic direction for the operation of pharmacy services. An employee in this position coordinates and develops standards of work performance, and plans, directs, and monitors the provision of distributive and clinical pharmacy services to all patient care areas. Additionally, the Manager, Pharmacy ensures that the functions of the department are consistent with hospital policies and procedures. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS Develops goals, objectives, and programs for the pharmacy department that align with the organization's overall strategic plan. Adheres to approved departmental policies, standard practices of the profession, and state and federal laws. Implements decisions of pharmaceutical, therapeutic, and hospital committees. Defines and resolves issues with the medication distribution system and continually evaluates performance relative to need for expansion or revision within the healthcare facility. Leads the development and implementation of innovative systems of medication delivery and drug therapy monitoring. Provides leadership and direction to the pharmacy staff. Promotes positive customer relations and contributes to a supportive and team-driven work environment within the department. Establishes and revises the standards of care for pharmacy practices. Plans, supports, and leads quality improvement efforts for relevant Pharmacy services. Facilitates effective working relationships with physicians, nursing staff, administrators, and other personnel, and serves as a resource in facilitating inter-disciplinary practices and communications. Serves as a resource to staff, physicians, and patients for pharmacy and organizational policies. Manages both capital and operational budgets, ensuring that the operations of department are within budget guidelines and providing explanations for any significant variances. Ensures that all patients are given accurate instructions on new prescriptions and refills. Makes recommendations and decisions regarding hiring, disciplining, and promoting subordinates. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures. Licensed pharmacist or willingness to obtain Texas licensure. Preferred ASHIP accredited residency. Minimum of ten years in pharmacy management, with experience in ambulatory care, infusion, 340B, and specialty pharmacy. MBA or equivalent degree highly preferred. Retail pharmacy experience considered advantageous. Proven expertise in the 340b Pharmacy Purchasing Program. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficient in Windows applications, Outlook, and Excel. Knowledge of COMPIS and CPCDMS systems. Familiarity with HIPAA, OSHA, and State/Federal laws governing medical services. Exceptional leadership, mediation abilities, and multitasking skills. Strong commitment to customer service excellence in healthcare. Basic knowledge of statistics and graphical representation principles. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and make informed decisions. Spanish language skills are a plus. The Pharmacy Department at the UHealth Coral Springs Location has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Manager, Pharmacy. The Manager, Pharmacy provides managerial and programmatic direction for the operation of pharmacy services. An employee in this position coordinates and develops standards of work performance, and plans, directs, and monitors the provision of distributive and clinical pharmacy services to all patient care areas. Additionally, the Manager, Pharmacy ensures that the functions of the department are consistent with hospital policies and procedures.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Develops goals, objectives, and programs for the pharmacy department that align with the organization's overall strategic plan.

  2. Adheres to approved departmental policies, standard practices of the profession, and state and federal laws.

  3. Implements decisions of pharmaceutical, therapeutic, and hospital committees.

  4. Defines and resolves issues with the medication distribution system and continually evaluates performance relative to need for expansion or revision within the healthcare facility.

  5. Leads the development and implementation of innovative systems of medication delivery and drug therapy monitoring.

  6. Provides leadership and direction to the pharmacy staff.

  7. Promotes positive customer relations and contributes to a supportive and team-driven work environment within the department.

  8. Establishes and revises the standards of care for pharmacy practices.

  9. Plans, supports, and leads quality improvement efforts for relevant Pharmacy services.

  10. Facilitates effective working relationships with physicians, nursing staff, administrators, and other personnel, and serves as a resource in facilitating inter-disciplinary practices and communications.

  11. Serves as a resource to staff, physicians, and patients for pharmacy and organizational policies.

  12. Manages both capital and operational budgets, ensuring that the operations of department are within budget guidelines and providing explanations for any significant variances.

  13. Ensures that all patients are given accurate instructions on new prescriptions and refills.

  14. Makes recommendations and decisions regarding hiring, disciplining, and promoting subordinates.

  15. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
