Summary Responsible for assisting specialty pharmacists, specialty manager and director in the day to day operations of the pharmacy which includes, but is not limited to, order entry, benefit investigation, prior authorization initiation, and financial assistance. SummaryResponsible for assisting specialty pharmacists, specialty manager and director in the day to day operations of the pharmacy which includes, but is not limited to, order entry, benefit investigation, prior authorization initiation, and financial assistance. Acts as a liaison to our specialty providers which may include spending time in the specialty practices. Job Duties
  • Assists specialty pharmacists in daily pharmacy operations.
  • Conducts monthly patient outreach which includes a medication reconciliation, adherence screen, and delivery method.
  • Assists in streamlining communication with the patient, insurance companies, pharmacists, nurses, lab, and other healthcare-related parties.
  • Initiates and makes every attempt to obtain prior authorization for specialty medications.
  • Acts as the patient's financial coordinator by gathering alternative payment sources available through copay and patient assistance programs and communicating it to them in a clear and effective manner.
  • Uses pharmacy software to record the receipt of prescriptions including the prescription itself, chart notes, and insurance information.
  • Collaborates with department leaders to design, develop, and evaluate clinical systems to support practice area.
  • Plans, educates, and executes performance improvement initiatives to achieve the organization's clinical quality goals.
  • Recommends and implements strategies that minimize cost and optimize medication use outcomes.
  • Prepares medication for verification in accordance with hazardous drug handling procedures
  • Communicate with specialty providers through multiple modalities including EPIC, Skype, Tiger Text, email and phone
  • Prepares medication shipments in accordance with the company's cold chain requirements and pack out guidelines
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 years experience in retail, specialty, or clinical pharmacy setting
  • Ability to prioritize workload and complete assignments and follow-up in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated strength in listening, oral and written communications.
  • Excellent data management software skills with demonstrated adaptability to internal systems.
  • Problem solving and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong organization skills as well as attention to detail.
  • CPhT- Certified Pharmacy Technician- State of Pennsylvania
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 years experience in a retail, specialty or clinical pharmacy setting and
  • Experience in inventory management, insurance verification and benefits investigation.
  • Basic knowledge of computer programs such as e-mail, and Microsoft office
