Prescription ProcessingAssures smooth pharmacy operations by accurately and efficiently processing and filling prescriptions under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist.Adheres to all legal and pharmacy procedures, including pharmacist check of all work prior to dispensing.Understands and maintains knowledge of contracted third party formularies and plan limitations.Prioritizes new prescriptions and refills and processes them into the computer.Accurately interprets prescriptions, selects proper medications, counts or measures proper quantities, places drugs in appropriate container(s), affixes required and appropriate prescription label and auxiliary labels. Annotates manufacturer, expiration date, and filler initials on the prescription indicating that prescriptions are completed and ready to be checked by pharmacist.Demonstrates understanding of metric and apothecary systems of weights and measures, pharmaceutical calculations, trade and generic names, dosages and indications.When applicable selects, assembles and compounds all ingredients in the required amounts according to master formulas and special requests.
