Cleaning and stocking the pharmacy throughout shift as needed. Maintain patient chart of Rx requests and ensure patient records are accurately recorded. Convey information in an accurate and professional way between the doctor and the client when the doctor is unavailable to speak with the client directly. Recognize the limits of your knowledge. If you are not confident that you know the answer to a client’s question, do not answer it. Ask another staff member for help. Teach clients to administer oral, eye, and ear medications as directed by your lead/supervisor. Make notes in Smartflow/Ezyvet of all relevant phone or in-person conversations with clients. Initial all entries. Help maintain medication tab in Ezyvet. Accurately record, maintain and review medical records by recording daily treatment plans (including nights, weekends and holidays), all diagnostics, patient progress notes and recording services or goods on the medical record with attached fees for invoicing. Report all service and maintenance issues on all equipment pharmacy. Assist other PCP’s when necessary. Prepare for next day by restocking supplies in Pharmacy, or any other area of the hospital that is needed. Prepare patients for discharge by having Rx requests filled in a timely manner. Maintain cleanliness and order in all areas of the hospital. Perform daily and weekly cleaning duties. Assist with inventory; inform inventory manager as needed about items that need to be ordered, unpack boxes of medical supplies, check packing list and expiration dates, rotate stock and store. Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Animal Technology or related field preferred. Certification (RVT, CVT, LVT, CVA) preferred. Experience in a veterinary setting required. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols. Professional, dependable, and calm under pressure. Ability to multitask with a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Computer literacy with willingness to learn software systems (e.g., EzyVet, Smart Flow). Proficiency in administrative tasks, documentation, and computer programs (Microsoft Office). Laboratory science fundamentals, including test purposes and result interpretation. Familiarity with veterinary clinic operations and confidentiality standards. In addition to the shared basic responsibilities of all Publix associates, an Assistant Pharmacy Manager's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following. As an Assistant Pharmacy Manager, you will:

  • be dedicated to the overall pharmacy department success, by executing strategy, motivating and inspiring staff as the pharmacist-on-duty, setting priorities to maximize contribution, seeking feedback and developmental opportunities for advancement while in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager
  • provide best-in-class pharmacy service to patients, empower staff in providing value and service through counseling, building personalized relationships, promoting customer loyalty, offering pharmacist led clinical services to improve health and wellness and preventative care through services available at Publix
  • mentor, train and develop a high functioning pharmacy team, providing developmental opportunities and challenging assignments to all staff, to grow and develop, tailoring to meet each one's needs
  • inspire your team to do the right thing, gaining buy in, and empowering the team to be accountable for the goals of the pharmacy department, and serve as a champion for executing programs and processes, creating enthusiasm for innovation
  • manage department performance including scheduling and assigning tasks to ensure complex operational activities are met in a timely and efficient manner
  • ensure continuous improvement and maintain a competitive advantage by understanding metrics as they relate to sales and service in your pharmacy, using best practices and making sound business decisions in the absence of the pharmacist in charge
  • be regarded as an expert on the pharmacy technology system and how it is used for both routine and complex prescription processing
  • excel in managing medication on-hand inventory and regarded as an expert in pharmacy inventory operations, mentor others on best practices to maximize sales, minimize shrink while meeting customers' needs while using programs such as auto refill and Sync Your Refills
  • proactively advance pharmacy clinical initiatives including Medication Therapy Management (MTM) and immunizations
  • participate locally as a community pharmacist in events that will meet the unique health and preventative care needs within the local area, such as health screenings
  • maintain a flexible work-week schedule in order to meet the needs of our customers, and
  • assist in all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for the position of Assistant Pharmacy Manager are:

  • must be at least 18 years of age
  • must be a graduate of a school of pharmacy
  • must have and maintain an unrestricted state pharmacist license
  • must not have active suspensions, sanctions, or other restrictions related to participation in a private, federal, or state health insurance program upon hire and thereafter and
  • must not have received an unacceptable result on a company-sponsored drug test within the last three years

Preferred Qualifications

Other qualifications for the position of Assistant Pharmacy Manager include:

  • be an immunizing pharmacist meeting the requirements as established by the state (or be scheduled to become an immunizer in the next set of training classes)
  • effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to interpret and understand instructions and solve problems
  • numerical and financial aptitude and
  • knowledge of retail merchandising and inventory control
