Relentless exploration Push the frontier of generative AI in live learning and - because only the paranoid survive - questioning every legacy assumption along the way. Is Apolitical You stay focused on mission-aligned outcomes, not distractions or unrelated causes. Job Description

Overview:

Nerdy is on a mission to transform the way people learn through technology, and as the Principal Product Manager of Tutor Engagement, you will be at the forefront of this mission. In this high-impact role, you will own the end-to-end tutor experience once they are on our platform – effectively treating it as your own business. You’ll define the vision and strategy to drive tutor success that includes building product experience, communications strategy, effective tooling and ensuring right support when needed. You’ll be ensuring that tutors are empowered to deliver excellent learning experiences to students.

We operate with a startup pace and mentality. That means you thrive in an environment of ambiguity, rapid experimentation, and continuous iteration – comfortably failing forward and learning quickly to find what works. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Design, Data Science, Engineering, Operations) and engage with senior leaders to innovate and iterate on tutor-focused products and programs. This is a mission-driven, energizing opportunity to combine technology, data, and empathy to delight tutors and help shape the future of online learning.

About Nerdy:

At Nerdy (NYSE: NRDY) -  the company behind Varsity Tutors - we’re redrawing the blueprint of learning. Our Live + AI™ platform fuses real-time human expertise with proprietary generative-AI systems, setting a new bar for measurable academic impact at global scale.

We recruit the kind of technologists and operators you’d bet on as solo founders - people who turn ambiguous problems into shipping code, iterate faster than markets move, and compound their advantage with every data point. In an era where great employees can deliver 10-times the leverage of the merely good, we back those who play to win.

Fortune favors the bold. Join us.

How we compete:

  • AI-Native at every level
From the CEO to day-one hires, everyone builds and ships with generative AI. If you’re not wielding AI, you’re not done.

  • Entrepreneurial velocity
Move at founder speed, prototype in hours, and measure in real user outcomes. Slow teams die.

  • Free-market rigor
Ideas rise or fall on merit and results - no committees, no politics, no cap on upside.

  • Full-stack ownership
You design, build, and run what you ship; accountability is a feature, not a bug.

  • Reward for contribution
Pay rises with impact, not years. Outstanding results earn outsized rewards. We evaluate both what you achieve and how you achieve it: living our leadership principles and using AI effectively are formally measured and rewarded.

  • Relentless exploration
Push the frontier of generative AI in live learning and - because only the paranoid survive - questioning every legacy assumption along the way.

  • Is Apolitical
You stay focused on mission-aligned outcomes, not distractions or unrelated causes.

If you’re a technically minded builder who thrives on open competition, personal responsibility, and the chance to redefine how the world learns - while continually stretching the limits of what generative AI can do - come do the most ambitious and rewarding work of your career here. Learn more at nerdy.com.

Nerdy’s shareholder letters below explain our latest products and strategy:

Qualifications:

  • Extensive product management experience (senior or principal level) in a high-growth, fast-paced environment with a track record of launching and scaling engagement-driving features.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a scrappy, get-things-done attitude and strong business acumen.

  • Hands-on experience building or managing AI-powered products or features; able to collaborate with technical teams to implement AI/ML solutions.

  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven mindset: defining metrics, running A/B tests, and using both quantitative and qualitative insights to drive decisions.

  • High empathy and a customer-centric approach; passionate about understanding and advocating for tutors’ needs.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and a bias for action; embrace a “fail forward” approach and iterate rapidly.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; able to inspire and influence cross-functional teams and senior leaders.

  • Passion for education and Nerdy’s mission to transform learning; mission-driven and energized by impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the vision, strategy, and roadmap for tutor engagement, owning every touchpoint of the tutor journey.

  • Identify and prioritize enhancements across the Tutor Portal UX, scheduling tools, payment experiences, support interactions, and communications channels (email, in-app, incentives).

  • Develop and launch features and initiatives that keep tutors active, motivated, and successful (e.g., incentive programs, rewards, recognition).

  • Use analytics and tutor feedback to define success metrics, run A/B tests, and iterate quickly on product improvements.

  • Collaborate with Design, Engineering, Data Science, and Operations to execute tutor-focused projects from concept to launch.

  • Craft compelling, action-oriented communications to inform and engage the tutor community.

  • Advocate for tutor needs with senior leadership; align stakeholders on goals, progress, and outcomes.

  • Monitor engagement trends and support interactions; proactively identify areas for improvement and drive continuous learning.

  • Continuous Learning: Access an all-inclusive learning membership for you and your household, including 1:1 tutoring hours, unlimited on-demand classes, and our full suite of learning products and services.

  • Supercharge with AI: Leverage cutting-edge AI tools to accelerate your workflow.

  • You’re Covered: Medical, dental, vision, life, STD & LTD plans plus strong maternity, paternity, and adoption leaves - numerous options for you and your family.

The Bottom Line:
If you're driven by impact, energized by ownership, and excited to help shape what’s next, you’ll thrive here. We move fast, think big, and reward those who deliver. This isn’t a traditional corporate environment - it’s a place to do the most meaningful work of your career.
