Job Summary: Reporting to the Writing Center Director, Academic Success Peer Tutors will primarily work with students individually or in small groups to improve their study skills. The Tutor will be expected to facilitate daily operations of the Writing Center by creating a welcoming and professional environment and maintaining precise records. Academic Success Peer Tutors will help students in their specialty subject area to help students improve their academic study skills. Minimum Job Qualifications Education and/or Experience Be a currently enrolled Shaw student with an overall GPA of at least 3.0. Experience with managerial or administrative duties. Job is: Classified The primary goal of this position is to assist in teaching the necessary concepts to students in grades 9-12 within the designated subject matter. Our Ideal Candidate Will: Provide tutoring as scheduled, with an emphasis on fostering student confidence and curiosity Post and market availability of tutoring along with schedule Maintain a consistent schedule as arranged with their supervisor Instruct students in the Spanish Language within a small classroom environment and 1 on 1 situation. Meets with students to discuss areas of development and counsels students in the subject area of concern Monitors student performance in class work, attendance, and discipline as needed.
