Provide individual and small group tutoring with an emphasis on mathematics, and other academic areas as assigned. The part-time on-campus Math Tutor will encourage students by providing a supportive attitude and helping to build student confidence. This position will work with students from remediation-level math through calculus. This is a part-time position with a maximum of 28 hours per week for 40 weeks per year. Duties/Responsibilities: Provide daily math tutoring on a walk-in and appointment basis. Demonstrate the learning process, show alternative methods of completing work, and encourage practice opportunities. Take active role in promoting the tutoring program on campus to students and faculty. Exhibit a positive welcoming attitude. Accurately track students' hours spent in tutoring through tracking software. Work effectively as part of a team. Demonstrate a commitment to student success in coursework. As a successful Instructor, you will: Deliver Quality Education: Teach using Sylvan based programs Supervise, interact with and motivate students during instruction hour while they work with equipment and materials Reward students for completed assignments Evaluate and document student progress Communicate student needs to the center directors Inspire Students: Develop rapport with students and establish a fun learning environment Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan Qualifications: A love for positively motivating and encouraging children with an end goal of teaching skills. Residential or Camp Counselor Experience is a plus. State Teaching certification a plus, yet not necessary. Advanced knowledge and familiarity with teaching or tutoring in the areas of calculus, algebra 1 & 2, geometry and trigonometry Two years teaching or tutoring experience preferred Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task Preferred Open Availability M-F 4-8pm Sat 9-1pm, depending on your interview we may work with less than full open availability. Pay is $14.00 an hour, $15.00 an hour with a State Teaching Certificate/License. Hours we provide is 4 to 20 hours a week, depending on the training you choose to accomplish on our Sylvan curriculum. Each subject/course takes about one hour. Hours are increased based training, and the on number of children enrolled in programs. We do train you and provide curriculum and teaching manipulatives. Teaching certification is a plus, yet not a necessity. Residential or camp counselor experience is a plus! Online Writing Tutors Needed! (Remote/Online) ThinkingStorm is a leading national online tutoring company seeking writing tutors to review students’ online submissions. Our ideal tutor has a BA/BS degree or higher in a writing-intensive field, experience reviewing or editing academic papers, and familiarity with APA and MLA style guides. Special consideration will be given to applicants with availability on the weekends and those who have experience with research design and/or ESL instruction.
