Children who have been exposed to lead are at greater risk of learning disabilities, lower IQ scores, speech and hearing issues, as well as attention and behavior problems. LEAD716 is working to mitigate the negative effects of lead during a critical period in brain development. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP Reports to LEAD 716 Program Coordinator ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide play-based learning experiences and instruction with 2-5 year-old children individually or in very small group sessions in the child’s daycare, preschool, or home; one-hour weekly sessions. Focus on early literacy, social, and emotional development, including the child’s family in the process whenever possible to encourage learning opportunities between sessions. Nurture positive relationships, self-esteem and a positive attitude toward learning. Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and present regular reports to the director, while promptly communicating questions and concerns.
