The MST-Psych team provides mental health treatment as well as family therapy to families and youth living in the Bronx and Manhattan. This community-based clinician provides in home counseling to adjudicated youth and their families 2-3 times per week. Youth referred to the program range from 9 to 17 years old, have moderate to serious mental health challenges, and live in the Bronx. The therapist uses evidenced based clinical practices to empower youth and families by creating strength-based behavior change that will be sustained long after treatment ends. The MST team strives to keep youths out of the system and keep families together. Field work comprises the majority of the therapist’s time, but additional administrative requirements and supervision are an equally important component of the position. MST therapists are clinically trained in MST and carry a small caseload of approximately 4 to 5 families. The ideal candidate for this position is a clinician grounded in strength-based practices and a social justice advocate. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide in home family counseling, support and crisis intervention to a small case load of 5 families. Treatment is provided in-person and in the family’s home. Conduct MST assessments and adhere to evidenced based clinical counseling modalities. Design cognitive behavioral interventions for youth and families. A Brief OverviewServes as support liaison with current Patient Service Representatives and patients. Assists with patient check in and collection of co-pays. Will work and communicate with insurance companies or appropriate entity to ensure prior authorization for procedures is received.What you will do
  • Complete ordering for all supplies for the office and monitor expiration dates on items that expire, if applicable.
  • Complete templates for the providers schedule when necessary.
  • Assists in registering patients, collecting co-pays and patient balances at time of service.
  • Completes prior authorizations as requested by providers, nursing staff and insurance companies.
  • Assists patients with preparation and completion of appropriate paperwork for financial assistance.
  • May be cross-trained into other functions to assist in the patient care delivery system.
  • Run reports to track communication information with providers and administration.
  • Manage and monitor the credentialing processes for our providers including Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers associated with our practice, if applicable.

  • Technical Certificate One year certificate from college or technical school; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Less than 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
  • High School or GED Equivalent
