Now Hiring: PRN Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA)
Service Area: Port St. Lucie, Ft. Pierce, Hutchinson Island and surrounding areas

Key Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the OT provides client care services that have been delegated by the Occupational Therapist.
- Under the direction of the OT assists in the evaluation and development of the rehabilitative plan of care and in periodic re-evaluation as required.
- Participates in the preparation of clinical and daily progress notes. All notes are reviewed by the OT and submitted according to company policy. Also prepares periodic summary reports.
- Together with the OT, instructs the client and family, and assists in teaching them exercise programs.
- Guides and instructs the client in prescribed therapeutic self-care and creative activities that are directed toward improving independence and physical and mental functioning and assists the client in the use of self-help devices.
- Identifies possible ineffective drug therapy or adverse reactions, significant side effects, drug allergies, and contra-indicated medication and reports same to the OT.
- Observes, and records activities and findings in the clinical record and reports to the OT and the physician the client's reaction to treatment and any changes in the client's condition.
- Consults with OT regarding the outcome of home visits and reports physical findings.
- Under the supervision of the OT, assists in the evaluation and development of the rehabilitative plan of care and in periodic reevaluation/reassessment as indicated.
- Instructs other health team personnel including, as appropriate, Home Health Aides, as well as family members with respect to certain phases of occupational therapy, so that they may work with the client.
- Writes daily progress notes on patients, and submits same according to company policy, and prepares periodic summary reports as indicated.
- Attends rehabilitation department staff meetings and case conferences as required.
- Instructs client in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, splints, and prosthetic and orthotic devices.
- Participates with staff, clients, and physicians in discharge activities and assists the Occupational Therapist in completing the Occupational Therapy Discharge Summary.
- Confirms the scheduling of visits with the Supervisor/Director of Clinical Services (DCS) to coordinate Agency visits.
- Assumes other duties deemed appropriate and necessary by the OT.
- Participates in effective coordination of schedule to ensure all reassessments are performed in a timely manner (alerts the office if a 30-day assessment or recertification is due).
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
- Current certification or license as required by state law.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Six (6) months to one (1) year of Home Health experience preferred.
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communication and organization skills.
- Licensed driver with an automobile that is in good working order and insured in accordance with the organization's requirements.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Results-oriented with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
