The successful candidate will work in a collaborative team environment to provide engineering design support for physical design of Power Substations ranging in voltage levels from 12.5K to 500kV. As a Senior Engineer, this individual will be expected to be skilled in many aspects of Physical Substation design and be able to evaluate Physical design project packages for adherence to standards and for constructability of design. This exciting opportunity will include mentoring and training of junior engineers and designers as well as interface and coordination activities with other design disciplines (P&C, Civil/Structural, etc.). Mesa is seeking an experienced (8+ year) BSEE or BSME for a position in Power Substation Physical Design. The successful candidate shall have experience in the field of Power Substation Engineering Design within the US Power industry. A BSEE or BSME from an ABET accredited University is required. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative team environment to provide engineering design support for physical design of Power Substations ranging in voltage levels from 12.5K to 500kV.  As a Senior Engineer, this individual will be expected to be skilled in many aspects of Physical Substation design and be able to evaluate Physical design project packages for adherence to standards and for constructability of design. This exciting opportunity will include mentoring and training of junior engineers and designers as well as interface and coordination activities with other design disciplines (P&C, Civil/Structural, etc.). Familiarity with Autocad and/or Microstation is required. Proficiency in verbal and written communication is required.  Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain would be considered a plus. 

Education/Experience: 

  • A BSEE or BSME from an ABET accredited University (required)
  • 8+ years of experience working in the power utility industry   

Responsibilities:  

  • Perform Physical Substation design with a high degree of accuracy (Quality)
  • Work well as a team member as well as individually
  • Use Autocad/MicroStation to create the assigned deliverables
  • Interact with the Customer and meet their schedule and budgeting requirements
  • Provide scoping support
  • Attend site visits located in the greater Carolina's region.
  • Mentor junior Engineers/Designers
  • Review work of other team members
  • Perform work safely.
