Assists in preparing and maintaining gymnasium unit. Assists in maintaining a physical, social, and psychological environment conducive to aiding in patient comfort and healing. Assists with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients. May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies. Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards. Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule. Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization. Manages outpatient cardiopulmonary services including cardiac and pulmonary rehab. Functions as liaison between patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers. Communicates with physicians, senior nursing officer, house supervisors, and co-workers as appropriate about changes in patient’s cardiopulmonary status including results of diagnostic studies and changing symptoms. Responsible for ensuring competence of Respiratory Therapists. Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable policies and procedures related to the Cardiopulmonary Department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Able to perform all Essential Functions of a Respiratory Therapist. Assign respiratory therapy responsibilities considering skill mix and unique patient needs. Ensure and validate competencies (initial and ongoing) for all Respiratory Therapists. Responsible for ongoing development of competencies. Ensures that Care and Documentation by staff members meets current standards of practice and complies with all such guidelines. Perform routine and emergent cardiopulmonary interventions as needed to support the department. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required. A demonstrated ability to work well in high pressure situations is required. The Therapy Technician, working under the supervision of a licensed therapist, is primarily responsible for providing support care to patients and therapy staff. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.

Pay rate: $25 per hour

Hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm as needed; Weekend availability required

Essential Functions:

  • Prioritizes and delivers basic patient care, which may include toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, freshwater and ice, ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient needs. Transfers patients utilizing proper body mechanics and safe patient handling techniques.
  • Documents vital signs, measures and records intake and output, weights, etc. Reports any changes observed in condition or behavior of patient to appropriate nursing or therapy personnel.
  • Consults with Therapist and other members of the interdisciplinary team for the delivery of patient care.
  • Responds to patient and family calls and requests.
