What's it like to work with KARE? Some typical responsibilities include:
- Treat patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist and adhere to community documentation guidelines.
- Record treatments given and progress notes in medical record.
- Assist with cleaning and maintenance of treatment area.
- Communicate with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
- Record treatment charges per the community policy and procedures.
- Instruct patients' families or nursing staff in a maintenance program.
- Report any changes in residents' physical condition and/or behavior.
- May require experience with evaluating and treating residents with memory impartment if assigned to memory care areas of community.
Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) therapy program.
- Current state licensure for Texas.
- Fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Results-oriented with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- CPR Certification (optional).
- Minimum requirement: 2 years clinical experience, and/or 1 year clinical experience directly in acute care, skilled nursing and/or AL/MC.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs on a regular basis and ability to help patients who require physical assistance.
