Job Summary: The Manager of Radiation Therapy under the direction of Oncology Services Leadership will provide direction, accountability, leadership and responsibility of patient care and support Mary Washington Healthcare clinical operations. This role is responsible for developing and implementing successful operational strategies for Radiation Oncology at Mary Washington Healthcare to include Radiation Therapy sites at Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital. To include the coordination of therapies that are provided in inpatient settings to facilitate effective diagnosis and treatment of disease in an environment that is cost effective and value driven. The Manager works closely with Oncology Leadership to maintain the highest degree of clinical/operational performance and customer satisfaction. The position is responsible for all operations within Radiation Oncology, including dosimetry and treatment planning functions for external beam and brachytherapy (LDR & HDR) under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist and a Medical Physicist, and all other aspects of patient care within the designated facilities. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Performs leadership functions that support the goals of Mary Washington Healthcare Radiation Oncology and the organization. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing Radiation Oncology at Mary Washington Healthcare. Performs leadership functions that support the goals of Mary Washington Healthcare Radiation Oncology and the organization. Manages the departmental resources to ensure quality patient care and ensures that the integration of services provided by the technical, nursing, and clerical functions of facilities are accomplished in coordination with Mary Washington Oncology Leadership. Anticipates issues and formulates plans of action to address situations. Develops, administers and monitors the departmental budget to ensure cost effective operations within the authorized budget allocation. Works with Clinical Quality Improvement Committee and staff to develop, implement and monitor policies, procedures and standards for all facilities to ensure effective and efficient integration with MWHC programs and sets standards that will ensure continuous quality patient care. Participates in evaluation and resolution of customer satisfaction and quality/performance issues. Reviews the effectiveness and efficacy of scheduling and administration of all radiation therapy procedures (including simulation, treatment planning, dosimetry and treatments) as directed by the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology to ensure safe, effective patient care. Reviews and evaluates quality assurance indicators and other data, assesses results quarterly and reports results to the CQI Committee. The Medical Director of Radiation Oncology will determine if any information is presented to the Cancer Committee. Conducts manager and staff meetings to communicate information, discuss quality issues and to monitor continued understanding and compliance with MWHC and departmental policies. Ensures that education and in-service programs are available for Mary Washington Healthcare Radiation Oncology Associates to increase knowledge and understanding of oncology treatment to ensure continued personal and professional growth and development. Ensures that clinical and administrative reports are prepared and presented to accurately reflect MWHCRO operations and compliance. Develops and maintains positive relationships with physicians working in the Cancer Center, and referral relationships that provide for volume growth. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required: Bachelor's degree in Radiation Oncology, Dosimetry, Health Science Management or related field required. Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program. Minimum of five years supervisory experience. Minimum of five years Radiation Oncology or related experience. ARRT registered in Radiation Oncology and/or Certified Medical Dosimetry Registry. Preferred: Related Master's degree preferred. Certified Medical Dosimetrist (by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board) preferred. Provides administrative assistance with therapy procedures without directly performing respiratory therapies. Assists with and performs EKG's when requested. Job Summary:

The Manager of Radiation Therapy under the direction of Oncology Services Leadership will provide direction, accountability, leadership and responsibility of patient care and support Mary Washington Healthcare clinical operations. This role is responsible for developing and implementing successful operational strategies for Radiation Oncology at Mary Washington Healthcare to include Radiation Therapy sites at Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital. To include the coordination of therapies that are provided in inpatient settings to facilitate effective diagnosis and treatment of disease in an environment that is cost effective and value driven. The Manager works closely with Oncology Leadership to maintain the highest degree of clinical/operational performance and customer satisfaction. The position is responsible for all operations within Radiation Oncology, including dosimetry and treatment planning functions for external beam and brachytherapy (LDR & HDR) under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist and a Medical Physicist, and all other aspects of patient care within the designated facilities.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Performs leadership functions that support the goals of Mary Washington Healthcare Radiation Oncology and the organization.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing Radiation Oncology at Mary Washington Healthcare.

  • Manages the departmental resources to ensure quality patient care and ensures that the integration of services provided by the technical, nursing, and clerical functions of facilities are accomplished in coordination with Mary Washington Oncology Leadership.
  • Anticipates issues and formulates plans of action to address situations.
  • Develops, administers and monitors the departmental budget to ensure cost effective operations within the authorized budget allocation.
  • Works with Clinical Quality Improvement Committee and staff to develop, implement and monitor policies, procedures and standards for all facilities to ensure effective and efficient integration with MWHC programs and sets standards that will ensure continuous quality patient care.
  • Participates in evaluation and resolution of customer satisfaction and quality/performance issues.
  • Reviews the effectiveness and efficacy of scheduling and administration of all radiation therapy procedures (including simulation, treatment planning, dosimetry and treatments) as directed by the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology to ensure safe, effective patient care.
  • Reviews and evaluates quality assurance indicators and other data, assesses results quarterly and reports results to the CQI Committee. The Medical Director of Radiation Oncology will determine if any information is presented to the Cancer Committee.
  • Conducts manager and staff meetings to communicate information, discuss quality issues and to monitor continued understanding and compliance with MWHC and departmental policies.
  • Ensures that education and in-service programs are available for Mary Washington Healthcare Radiation Oncology Associates to increase knowledge and understanding of oncology treatment to ensure continued personal and professional growth and development.
  • Ensures that clinical and administrative reports are prepared and presented to accurately reflect MWHCRO operations and compliance.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with physicians working in the Cancer Center, and referral relationships that provide for volume growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Radiation Oncology, Dosimetry, Health Science Management or related field required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program.
  • Minimum of five years supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of five years Radiation Oncology or related experience.
  • ARRT registered in Radiation Oncology and/or Certified Medical Dosimetry Registry.

Preferred:

  • Related Master's degree preferred.
  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist (by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board) preferred.
