Job Title: Server FLSA Status (US): Hourly Direct Oversight: Restaurant Operations Reports To: General Manager Job Summary: Our Server team members are our brand ambassadors, ensuring guests experience a fun, relaxed and exceptional dining experience. Primary Responsibilities: Serve guests in a professional and positive manner, including but not limited guest food and beverage orders, delivery of food and beverage and ensuring exceptional dining experience. Utilize JINYA’s steps of service, up-selling techniques and proper menu knowledge guiding guests to daily specials, ensure dietary needs and delighting our guests to our unique offering of ramen and tapas Greet guests as they arrive, ensuring proper seating arrangements and reservations check-in or providing a proper wait-list time, if necessary. Engage with guests to ensure a great dining experience Embrace the JINYA culture and participate in collective proper company greeting, such as “Irasshai” and “Arigato” Communicate clearly and concisely in a positive and professional manner with guests and team members, both front and back of the house operations. Answer phone calls, take reservations and assign guests to proper tables while maintaining consistent server rotation, when needed Ensure cleanliness of service station, including any area visible to guests upon seating Support team members in front of house operations, such as refilling beverages, organizing table arrangements, table maintenance, polishing pates or glasses, resetting tables or other necessary items as requested or needed Respond to minor guest complaints, and alerting management of any major or critical guests or service concerns Know restaurant information, such as hours of operations, menu, allergies, table numbers, payment options and any relevant information to the operations of the restaurant Promote and executes JINYA’s core values of Teamwork, Hospitality, Authenticity, Creativity and Integrity Complete projects and/or tasks as requested or required by manager(s) or supervisor(s) REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Minimum 2-3 years server experience, preferably in a high-volume atmosphere Outstanding and professional verbal and written skills; with strong ability to multi-task. Job Brief & Preview In alignment with Metrotainment Cafes Core Values , executes our “7 steps of service” with a level of attentiveness and hospitality that exceeds guest expectations every time and delivers on our Mission Statement to Make All Our Stakeholders Happy . This is accomplished in the spirit of teamwork & collaboration with attention to the details of service and through self-accountability for providing our intended guest & employee experience. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Assists in the set up and stocking of service stations with roll-ups, take out containers, condiments & miscellaneous guest service supplies. Assists in maintaining beverage service stations throughout the shift to include ensuring sufficient amounts of brewed tea, brewed coffee, house lemonade, ice bin upkeep and beverage service items are available. Pre-busses their own and fellow server’s tables during meal service by removing dishes and items no longer being used to maintain well “groomed” table tops. Carries dirty dishes, glassware and silverware to dish washing area and properly off-loads and sorts items to be cleaned. Practices full hands in and full hands out transporting clean dishware from kitchen to FOH service areas and bar. Actively participates in team service by running food and beverages to tables/bar stools that are outside of station/assigned area of service. Looks for opportunities to assist other service team members in a pro-active manner. Always makes an inquiry regarding their guest’s awareness of our VIP program. Utilizes outstanding product knowledge to confidently suggest specific food & beverage items to guests. Accurately take orders and delivers products to guests consistent with shopper standards and details of service. Inputs all food and beverage orders into POS using accurate table number, pivot points, item modifiers and guest special instructions. Complies with all state and federal liquor service laws and always asks to see proof of age for any guest ordering alcohol that appears to be younger than 40 years old. Adheres to responsible consumption of alcohol guidelines to prevent over serving guests. Immediately notifies management of any complaint or issue verbalized by a guest. Presents guest check for final payment consistent with timing standards & returns credit card/change immediately. Always thanks guests for dining/drinking with us. Assembles take out and to go-orders as directed by management. Accurately completes end of shift cash-out procedures.
