The dental hygienist will also be responsible for completing medical and dental histories, taking necessary radiographs according to ALARA principles, taking vital signs when indicated and ensuring the patient's periodontal and dental exams are up-to-date. Essential Functions : Patient care: Performs dental hygiene assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning for dental hygiene services.Provides preventative dentistry. Completes non-surgical periodontal therapy (NSPT). Takes digital radiographs for diagnosing periodontal conditions and identifying dental abnormalities. Completes oral cancer screenings and takes intraoral images when indicated for appropriate referral and follow-up. Completes a Caries Risk Assessment on all patients. (75%) Administrative Duties:Completes patient care notes within 72 hours of registration. Assists with sterile processing preparation. (20%) May be asked to fill-in at other community dental clinics, in Medical-Dental Integration programs or school-based programs. This allows us to provide dental treatment under general anesthesia for young children, highly anxious patients, and children and youth with special healthcare needs. Where we are: Today we are so excited to be giving children the care and tools they need to smile! We spearhead a true community effort with partnerships with multiple organizations and 7 school districts with over 40 schools to treat children with untreated dental needs throughout the county. Each year, our clinics and School-Based Programs perform over 100,000 procedures, serving over 10,000 children, with over 4,000 being seen in school. Through countless outreach efforts to daycares and other community organizations, we are continuing our efforts to reach all the children in Brown County that can benefit from our services.
