Basic Function HF Sinclair is seeking a Process Control Engineer. This position is under close and frequent supervision, conducts engineering assignments for the Engineering Department Job Duties Performs engineering calculations (i.e. mass balances, energy balances, and conversion calculations) Gathers, analyzes, interprets, acts upon, and disseminates pertinent data Generates and maintains key performance indicators for assigned units Assist in the design of chemical plant equipment and devise processes for manufacturing chemicals and products Conduct research to develop new and improved chemical manufacturing processes Assist design and plan layout for chemical processes on a commercial scale Investigate most effective arrangement of operations (i.e. mixing, crushing, heat transfer distillation, oxidation, hydrogenation, and polymerization) Implement processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost efficient manner Investigate and recommend solutions to work-in-process problems Recommend and assist with implementing improvements and/or modification in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters Review and make recommendations pertaining to proposals of outside vendors regarding the purchase of new or modernization of existing processing equipment Generate and/or modify P & ID's Survey construction areas to plan equipment and piping layout Produce and issue civil, structural and piping drawings for construction Hire and supervise contractors throughout the construction phase, as needed Perform sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment Needs to demonstrate computing systems acumen Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion Experience 0 years of on-the-job experience is required. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Any Coop or Intern Experience with Chemical, Petrochem, Refinery manufacturing. FCC, CCR, Alky, and Sulfure unit experience is preferred. Education Level A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Chemical discipline) is required. PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: Ability to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam within six months of hire preferred. Required Skills Basic knowledge of commonly used engineering concepts and ability to apply this knowledge analytically. Basic ability to stay abreast of new technology developments and processes is essential. Advanced reading and writing skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with others. Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations Work Conditions Office and Petroleum Refinery/Industrial environment based with up to 10% travel required by land or air. Basic Function

HF Sinclair is seeking a Process Control Engineer. This position is under close and frequent supervision, conducts engineering assignments for the Engineering Department

Job Duties

  • Performs engineering calculations (i.e. mass balances, energy balances, and conversion calculations)
  • Gathers, analyzes, interprets, acts upon, and disseminates pertinent data
  • Generates and maintains key performance indicators for assigned units
  • Assist in the design of chemical plant equipment and devise processes for manufacturing chemicals and products
  • Conduct research to develop new and improved chemical manufacturing processes
  • Assist design and plan layout for chemical processes on a commercial scale
  • Investigate most effective arrangement of operations (i.e. mixing, crushing, heat transfer distillation, oxidation, hydrogenation, and polymerization)
  • Implement processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost efficient manner
  • Investigate and recommend solutions to work-in-process problems
  • Recommend and assist with implementing improvements and/or modification in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters
  • Review and make recommendations pertaining to proposals of outside vendors regarding the purchase of new or modernization of existing processing equipment
  • Generate and/or modify P & ID's
  • Survey construction areas to plan equipment and piping layout
  • Produce and issue civil, structural and piping drawings for construction
  • Hire and supervise contractors throughout the construction phase, as needed
  • Perform sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment
  • Needs to demonstrate computing systems acumen

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Any Coop or Intern Experience with Chemical, Petrochem, Refinery manufacturing. FCC, CCR, Alky, and Sulfure unit experience is preferred.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Chemical discipline) is required.

PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

Ability to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam within six months of hire preferred.

Basic knowledge of commonly used engineering concepts and ability to apply this knowledge analytically. Basic ability to stay abreast of new technology developments and processes is essential. Advanced reading and writing skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with others. Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations

Work Conditions

Office and Petroleum Refinery/Industrial environment based with up to 10% travel required by land or air. Subject to varying road and weather conditions and required to work in all temperatures including out-of-doors. Required to work in a warehouse/plant environment and out of doors. Works near moving mechanical parts and/or rotating equipment.
