Introduction

We are seeking a talented Design and Analysis Engineer to join a new team focused on designing and testing advanced concepts for the Department of Defense. This exciting opportunity involves working with a multi-disciplined engineering team to decompose system-level requirements into electronic subsystems/components. The role will serve as the lead Electronics Engineer tasked with requirements definition, design, development, and testing of new electronic hardware solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• 9 years of experience with the design, development, and integration of complex electronic systems or subsystems
• 5 years of experience researching, developing, or evaluating electrical, electronic, computer, software, and/or firmware requirements
• 5 years of experience with analog and/or digital circuit design, packaging techniques, and/or power systems
• 3 years of experience developing subsystem requirements

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Proficient in Mentor Graphics (Xpedition, Capital Suite...)
• Proficient in SiMetrix (Simulation tool for circuit analysis)
• Experience with Electro-Optical and IR sensors, ensuring proper integration and functionality
• Experience with high speed, low latency electronic design

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Derive and document hardware requirements from system-level specifications
• Develop and define electronic subsystems and unit-level architecture
• Write SSOWs for board fabrication or other related contractual work
• Apply technical expertise when deriving and writing electronics-related requirements (voltage, current, power, and signal integrity)
• Design, develop, and test mixed-signal electronic circuits and systems
• Lead the design and implementation of PCB layouts and schematics
• Collaborate with software and firmware engineers to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components
• Participate in and conduct design reviews (i.e., TRR, PDR, and CDRs)
• Perform simulations and analyses to validate design performance
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues during development and testing phases
• Provide mentorship and guidance for designs made by the engineering team
