Overview
Job Description
At National CORE, we do more than build housing. We build communities.
As one of the nation's leading nonprofit developers of affordable housing, National CORE is committed to creating high quality apartment communities and delivering supportive services that empower residents to thrive. Our construction team plays a critical role in that mission, transforming vision into tangible, lasting impact.
The position
The Senior Construction Superintendent is the on site leader responsible for delivering our most complex, high value multifamily residential developments from ground break to closeout. Reporting directly to the VP of Construction, this role drives field execution while partnering closely with Construction Management to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the high standards our communities deserve.
This is a leadership opportunity for a construction professional who takes pride not just in building structures, but in building places that matter.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead all on site construction activities for large scale, high complexity multifamily developments.
- Coordinate and direct subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and field staff to ensure seamless daily operations.
- Collaborate with the Construction Manager and VP of Construction to define and refine scopes of work.
- Maintain disciplined oversight of project budgets, schedules, and expenditures.
- Provide detailed progress reporting and scheduling updates to executive leadership.
Scheduling, Budget & Compliance
- Drive project timelines and ensure milestone achievement.
- Oversee inspections, utilities coordination, permits, plan checks, and Certificates of Occupancy.
- Implement and enforce OSHA standards and maintain site wide safety compliance.
- Ensure full adherence to SWPPP requirements and proactively mitigate impact to surrounding communities.
Team & Stakeholder Leadership
- Supervise and influence subcontractors and field teams to maintain productivity and accountability.
- Foster strong working relationships with city officials, inspectors, consultants, and partners.
- Represent National CORE professionally at meetings and company sponsored events, which may occasionally include overnight travel.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing residential or multifamily construction projects.
- Experience leading complex, high value developments.
- Strong working knowledge of municipal processes and regulatory inspections.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership presence and professional demeanor.
- Higher education or technical training in construction related fields preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Active construction site with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and use of hands.
- Ability to operate vehicles and standard office equipment as required.
