Your Role PAC is seeking a self-motivated individual to perform installation, routine maintenance, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate and testing of electronic instrumentation and related electromechanical equipment used in the Gas Chromatography (GC) and Elemental Analyzers in the Petro-Chemical industry in major refineries and independent laboratories according to ASTM methods. Position requires up to 90% travel to customer locations, primarily throughout the Mid-West area and various other territory coverage based on business need. Qualified candidates must reside in Greater Houston or Greater Chicago area and be able to meet DISA and ASAP policy requirements to access all customer sites. ESSENTIAL TASKS: Provide field service support at customer sites, which includes but not limited to, installation, preventive maintenance, calibration, test validation, basic troubleshooting and breakdown repairs on PAC's Gas Chromatography and Elemental product lines. Service may be performed at customer site or in-house. Provide telephone support as needed. Perform regular maintenance, calibrations and validations, and check sensing, measuring, and recording instrumentation and circuitry, testing and verification of all functions of equipment used in laboratories, according to characteristics of equipment under test, and capabilities of procurable test apparatus. Operate GC and Elemental Analyzers during test cycle to produce, regulate, and record effects of actual or simulated conditions such as flash point, distillation, cold properties, evaporative loss, viscosity, vibration as well as other physical properties testing and/or determine through testing methods an elemental diagnosis such as quantity of sulfur, nitrogen, fluoride, etc. Use computerized equipment, test equipment, and software to perform testing functions. Manage inventory assigned for repairs to ensure accuracy of individual and main warehouse. Timely submittal of travel expenses each week in ERP system. Ensure inventory is properly documented for transfer before and after assigned service call. Maintain and increase knowledge of product specifications as assigned including product and software updates. Promote good customer relationship through professional communication and by providing exceptional customer service. Observe essential safety policies and procedures within Company and at customer sites at all times. Assist with related special projects, as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience: Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry preferred, or, Associate's degree (A.A.) or Technical degree from two-year college or; Technical school with 5+ years of Chemistry experience with GC or Elemental analyzers and software, in the process automations/instrumentation/analytics industry (or similar), or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge & Skills: Strong problem-solving skills Previous experience successfully interacting with customers Proficiency with computer tools, including ERP applications Solid working knowledge of industrial service field Excellent analytical, and organizational skills Other Skills, Abilities, and/or Qualifications: 90% travel required for field service roles. Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $125,000 per year at the commencement of employment for Analyst. Specific Job Responsibilities: Enforce the quality and safety policies within the laboratory scope. Prepares, fills and tests specialty gas cylinders using gas chromatography and various other process analyzers. Responsible for communicating with other departments and management with cylinder orders and test results. Handling of hazardous materials (HAZMAT). Manage day-to-day operation of laboratory analyses, safety, and compliance with applicable Federal, state, and local regulations and codes (such as FDA, DOT, OSHA, etc.). Responsible for maintenance of all analytical equipment within laboratory, ensuring all equipment is up-to date with external and internal calibrations. Maintain and update a variety of manuals and standard operating procedures. Responsible for developing, organizing and staffing lab. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in chemistry or related field, required. At least two years in a supervisory capacity preferred. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Demonstrate knowledge of analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis and statistical methods.
