Inspect construction site and complete pre-construction checklist tasks. Ensure necessary permits (local, state, environmental, etc.) and site/job specific plans (environmental, safety, etc.) are in place, signed, and posted at the job site. During construction, inspect work to ensure that all safety and environmental policies are being followed and that the project is being constructed per the applicable specifications, drawings, and permits. Manage communication with construction crew(s), client project manager, and engineering to resolve all queries (Requests for Information or RFI's) that may inhibit construction progress. During construction, identify field-purchased material needs and communicate those needs to the client Construction Manager in writing. Order materials and rental equipment as necessary and coordinate deliveries. Inventory materials and identify shortages as the project progresses in order to prevent delays in schedule. During construction, prepare Daily Log Reports that indicate progression of project to outline deficiencies in schedule, track completed construction activities, highlight safety incidents, and monitor compliance of work with specifications/drawings. During construction, perform other miscellaneous duties including maintaining redline construction drawing markups, completing weekly safety audits, communicating scope changes, confirming utility locates, and signing crew timesheets. In general, occasionally climb ladders and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Minimum Requirements HS Diploma or equivalent 5 Years Relevant Construction / Maintenance Experience This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations and is also subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment. We have immediate openings for Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operator and/or Locator in Des Moines, IA location. Class A CDL with tankers, knowledge of directional drilling is a requirement. Primary Responsibilities include : The HDD Operator’s main responsibility is to operate heavy equipment safely and effectively for the installation of natural gas pipelines. The Operator will perform other duties as required to support the crew. Primary Requirements: Horizontal Directional Drill Experience is Preferred. CDL Class-A w/tanker and manual endorsement is the top priority. Willing to work overtime as dictated by workload volumes. Backhoe and/or Mini Ex experience is a plus. Working experience in construction, or the utility distribution industry in Gas or Electric is preferred. 3 plus years of working experience in operating, excavation equipment in utility industry is required. Requires technical thinking, and the ability to read standards and schematics. Physical Demands (All Positions): Must be able to lift and/or move 50 pounds Standing, walking including and primarily on uneven surfaces, turning, stooping, kneeling, crouching, speaking and hearing are required continuously Work Environment (All Positions): Employee will be subjected to outside weather conditions Employee could be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, cold, heat and humidity. The noise level in the work environment can often be loud The employee is frequently exposed to slow- or fast-moving traffic in the work environment Operators are subject to outside weather conditions in elements and will be exposed to a variety of noise and ground surface temperatures. Kimley-Horn's Nashville, Tennessee (TN) office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 2+ years of experience to join our Natural Gas team.

Responsibilities

As a critical member of the team, you will perform a variety of civil engineering tasks and will receive both on-the-job and formal training as well as mentorship, camaraderie, and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions.

Our Renewable Energy team works on projects including:

  • Pipeline Design
  • Natural Gas Metering and Regulation Stations
  • Pipeline Integrity Management
  • Natural Gas Compressor Stations
  • Control Design and Integration
  • Client Management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Valid drivers license required
  • 1+ years of applicable work experience strongly preferred
  • EIT Certification
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, and/or GIS
