DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS Under the supervision of a technical or administrative supervisor, an employee in this class determines financial eligibility for programs administered by the Department of Social Services and recommends amounts of assistance in accordance with established policies and procedures. Established in 1980, the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, Inc. (GLFHC) is a multi-site, mission-driven, non-profit organization employing over 700 staff whose primary focus is providing the highest quality patient care to a culturally diverse population throughout the Merrimack Valley. Nationally recognized as a leader in community medicine (family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, and geriatrics), GLFHC has clinical sites in Lawrence, Methuen, and Haverhill and is the sponsoring organization for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program.

GLFHC is currently seeking a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) to provide clinical social work services to our patients and families.

• Counsels and provides crisis intervention, assessment and treatment.

• Coaches patients on how to manage ongoing mental health conditions and provides therapy to help patients make positive behavior changes.

• Reviews the patient’s medical history and completes the assessment and care plan. Maintains accurate and timely records.

• Performs evidence-based treatment methods including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Functional Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

• Provides mental health education to patients and families, in a clear, concise manner, with sensitivity to patients’ level of understanding, culture, age and language.

Qualifications

• Bilingual; Spanish and English required.

• Master’s Degree in social work, counseling or Psychology.

• LICSW, LMHC, LCSW or MSW in Massachusetts.

• BLS Certification.

• Massachusetts Child & Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) certification.
