Overview
Job Description
What you'll do (including but not limited to)
- Check shop orders to determine priority of props that need to be tested.
- Enter prop number into the computer and ensure that the shaft is the proper size.
- Ensure blades are balanced by welding on any extra weight or removing weight by using a grinder.
- Add prop's specifications into the computer and perform any necessary measurements including blade diameter. Ensure that the blades are at proper weights. Remove blade and record finished prop.
- Print record of balanced blade weights and place shop order with appropriate props.
- Distribute materials into and out of work area by operating forklift, bridge crane and/or pallet jack.
- Calibrate balancer on a weekly basis.
- Additional duties may be assigned, dependent upon location and product line.
Must haves
- High school diploma or GED
- 6+ months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 6+ months welding experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals written in English. Ability to read and understand shop orders and time sheets.
- Knowledge of part and tool names
- Ability to communicate verbally with co-workers in a productive manner.
- Basic math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages. Ability to read graphs and tables.
- Ability to use tools in a safe and proper manner.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
To successfully perform the essential function of this position, employees must have the ability to:
- Continuously lift/move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds; frequently pull up to 100 pounds with wheels (pallet jack).
- Continuously stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms above shoulder height; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.
- Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms at waist level and below the waist; and work in limited space.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is continuously exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to high places, fumes or airborne particles and/or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
