Job Title: DevOps Engineer (Mid) Clearance Required: Public Trust. Work Location: Remote. Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified DevOps Engineer to support the Buckeye contract at USDA’s FPAC environment. The DevOps Engineer supports a cloud-based migration and development environment for the USDA FPAC. The DevOps Engineer focuses upon automated continuous deployment of application code and the operational and security monitoring and care of the infrastructure and software platforms. The DevOps Engineer, with a strong foundation in AWS cloud based CI/CD tools, will work as part of a team to support the FPAC community’s research efforts. The DevOps Engineer must be self-driven and possess strong analytical skills to solve challenging technical problems, often through collaboration with other technical staff.   Key Responsibilities: Work with Product Owners to understand the desired capability, to define and prioritize work, determine deliverables, and manage workloads.  Capable of writing, debugging, and deploying Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools like Puppet or Terraform.  Design and build CI/CD pipeline configurations to orchestrate provisioning and deployment of both large- and small-scale systems  Design and implement fully automated enterprise pipelines using a suite of DevOps tools: Terraform, BitBucket, Puppet, Docker, Github.  Collaborate with team to develop, stand-up, and support cloud platform using a variety of programming languages and cloud-native technologies.  Stay on top of the latest trends and develop expertise in emerging cloud technologies.  Proficiency with AWS services such as Amazon S3, Amazon EKS, DynamoDB, AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Amazon EC2, Elastic Search, Amazon X-Ray, WAF, Amazon Aurora, AWS WorkSpaces, etc.  Strong familiarity with modern DevOps principles, practices, methods, and tools.  Design containerization (Docker, etc.) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, etc.) framework solutions in deployment and operations.  Able to multi-task multiple projects and provide updates to management.  Demonstrate strong verbal and written interpersonal communications skills and ability to deal effectively with customers, peers and management.  Required Qualifications: Education: Education Requirement with specific field of study : Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar fields Experience/Skills: Minimum Years of Overall Experience: 5  Minimum Years of Specific Experience in Field: 5 5+ years of experience developing & engineering enterprise cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) using leading cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, and Azure. Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer to join our technology team. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience with both AWS and Azure, containerization, Kubernetes orchestration, automation tools, GitOps methodologies, and release engineering best practices. Job Description

Job Title: DevOps Engineer (Mid)Clearance Required: Public Trust.Work Location: Remote.

Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified DevOps Engineer to support the Buckeye contract at USDA’s FPAC environment. The DevOps Engineer supports a cloud-based migration and development environment for the USDA FPAC. The DevOps Engineer focuses upon automated continuous deployment of application code and the operational and security monitoring and care of the infrastructure and software platforms. The DevOps Engineer, with a strong foundation in AWS cloud based CI/CD tools, will work as part of a team to support the FPAC community’s research efforts. The DevOps Engineer must be self-driven and possess strong analytical skills to solve challenging technical problems, often through collaboration with other technical staff.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Product Owners to understand the desired capability, to define and prioritize work, determine deliverables, and manage workloads.  
  • Capable of writing, debugging, and deploying Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools like Puppet or Terraform.  
  • Design and build CI/CD pipeline configurations to orchestrate provisioning and deployment of both large- and small-scale systems  
  • Design and implement fully automated enterprise pipelines using a suite of DevOps tools: Terraform, BitBucket, Puppet, Docker, Github.  
  • Collaborate with team to develop, stand-up, and support cloud platform using a variety of programming languages and cloud-native technologies.  
  • Stay on top of the latest trends and develop expertise in emerging cloud technologies.  
  • Proficiency with AWS services such as Amazon S3, Amazon EKS, DynamoDB, AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Amazon EC2, Elastic Search, Amazon X-Ray, WAF, Amazon Aurora, AWS WorkSpaces, etc.  
  • Strong familiarity with modern DevOps principles, practices, methods, and tools.  
  • Design containerization (Docker, etc.) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, etc.) framework solutions in deployment and operations.  
  • Able to multi-task multiple projects and provide updates to management.  
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written interpersonal communications skills and ability to deal effectively with customers, peers and management. 

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Education Requirement with specific field of study: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar fields

Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum Years of Overall Experience: 5  
  • Minimum Years of Specific Experience in Field: 5 
  • 5+ years of experience developing & engineering enterprise cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) using leading cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, and Azure. Must include networking, computer, storage, database, identify management/access control, monitoring, etc.   
  • Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills  
  • Excellent communications, teamwork, leadership and conflict management skills. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated high analytical skills and effectively able to troubleshoot and prioritize needs, requirements, and other issues proactively
  • Demonstratable experience with some of these using DevOps tools (CI/CD, CloudFormation, Git, shell scripting, ADO, Maven, Chef, Puppet, Docker, Ansible, Kubernetes, Terraform, etc.)  
  • Demonstratable experience building Micro-Service Architectures and decoupled systems (Lambda, Azure Functions)  
  • Experience with monitoring and network management tools and technologies and network engineering concepts (IPsec, Routing, NAT, DNS).  
  • Experience with AWS cloud technologies and cloud infrastructure, including networking, VPCs, S3, RDS, ELB, Route53, HPC, SQS, Auto Scaling, Direct Connect, VGWs, and DNS.  
  • Working knowledge of FedRAMP and extensive experience applying best practices for building/deploying secure and reliable services and applications on FedRAMP-compliant Cloud platforms.  
  • Experience with programming languages such as Perl, Python, YAML, BASH, Go, etc. 

Preferred Certification(s):

  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional; Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies; Architect with Google Cloud Platform: Infrastructure, MS Network Certifications.  
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator Developer (CKAD)  
  • ITIL v3 Foundations Certification.

Salary and Benefit Information:

The likely salary range for this position is $81,000 - $105,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
