The Concrete Construction General Laborer position will begin in Odessa, NE, and then require extended travel and work throughout the Midwest (e.g. Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska). $19.00/Hour Medical, Dental, Vision insurance options Per Diem Benefits Primary Function: The Concrete Construction General Laborer is a support role to the skilled trades on highway construction projects. Laborers may operate a variety of equipment including hand and power tools: air hammers, earth tampers, small mechanical hoists, surveying, and measuring equipment. They clean and prepare job sites, clean up rubble and debris and any other items as directed by the Foreman or Division Manager. Concrete Laborer Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but are not limited to): Prep construction sites by clearing obstacles and hazards Assembling and disassembling all temporary structures and forms Manage traffic movement and traffic control in the construction area Cleaning and moving debris and waste materials from or near the construction site Loading and unloading materials and supplies Digging trenches, removing filling, and/or compacting earth with use of shovels and rakes Following supervisors' instructions Assist carpenters, and other skilled craftspeople with various tasks such as concrete footings, setting curb forms, ADA forms, and paving forms Build job specific wood forms and assemble commercially available form systems Demonstrate versatility through properly utilizing other types of heavy machinery when needed (e.g. excavator, skid loader, and others) Finish bridge decks such as concrete vibrator Set and tie steel as required Pour, grade and finish concrete Shovel dirt, gravel and asphalt Perform general housekeeping and cleanup of the job site Check and maintain grade stakes and other survey markings Maintain equipment and tools Enter confined spaces as required Rigging Provide flagging and direction to Crane Operators Must be able to walk on rebar Perform incidental work items and duties included within other crafts Perform general labor and other construction related duties as required Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information Represent the company in a professional manner on and off the job site Flagging (traffic control) with proper training Excellent Benefits & Incentives!! Job Description

The Concrete Construction General Laborer position will begin in Odessa, NE, and then require extended travel and work throughout the Midwest (e.g. Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska).

Primary Function:

The Concrete Construction General Laborer is a support role to the skilled trades on highway construction projects. Laborers may operate a variety of equipment including hand and power tools: air hammers, earth tampers, small mechanical hoists, surveying, and measuring equipment. They clean and prepare job sites, clean up rubble and debris and any other items as directed by the Foreman or Division Manager.

Concrete Laborer Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but are not limited to):

  • Prep construction sites by clearing obstacles and hazards
  • Assembling and disassembling all temporary structures and forms
  • Manage traffic movement and traffic control in the construction area
  • Cleaning and moving debris and waste materials from or near the construction site
  • Loading and unloading materials and supplies
  • Digging trenches, removing filling, and/or compacting earth with use of shovels and rakes
  • Following supervisors' instructions
  • Assist carpenters, and other skilled craftspeople with various tasks such as concrete footings, setting curb forms, ADA forms, and paving forms
  • Build job specific wood forms and assemble commercially available form systems
  • Demonstrate versatility through properly utilizing other types of heavy machinery when needed (e.g. excavator, skid loader, and others)
  • Finish bridge decks such as concrete vibrator
  • Set and tie steel as required
  • Pour, grade and finish concrete
  • Shovel dirt, gravel and asphalt
  • Perform general housekeeping and cleanup of the job site
  • Check and maintain grade stakes and other survey markings
  • Maintain equipment and tools
  • Enter confined spaces as required
  • Rigging
  • Provide flagging and direction to Crane Operators
  • Must be able to walk on rebar
  • Perform incidental work items and duties included within other crafts
  • Perform general labor and other construction related duties as required
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Represent the company in a professional manner on and off the job site
  • Flagging (traffic control) with proper training

Job Requirements:

  • Over 18 years of age
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen with a "Negative" result
  • Must be able to complete a post-offer physical with a "Capable" result
  • Familiar with staking and checking grade
  • Experience with using a concrete vibrator and various other finishing tools
  • Familiar with construction terminology and hand signals
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, OSHA guidelines, and construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Detail-oriented and have excellent follow through
  • Dependable and able to work independently with little supervision as well as with a team of individuals
  • Able to use hand and power tools
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Ready to learn from on-the-job training when necessary
  • Must have the ability to work extended hours as required by the workload
  • Must be able to run 15 90lb. chipping hammer/sack hammer for extended amount of time
  • Ability to stoop and kneel frequently

  • Ability to lift 0-25 pounds constantly

Education and Experience:

  • 1 to 3 years or more of industry related experience is required, with an emphasis on roads, curbs, drives & ADA ramps (willing to train)

  • Able to meet all physical requirements
  • Able to work around loud noises and can tolerate being exposed to odors, gases, dust, etc.
  • Able to work in extreme temperatures, in confined spaces, high places, and in excavated areas
  • Some travel may be required depending on the job
