Acquires and maintains knowledge of products represented. Serves, demonstrates, intercepts consumers and sells products in a professional manner. Maintains an overall professional appearance consistent with the requirements of the job. The Associate is responsible for facilitating Miguelitos Cooking Classes, weekly and hosts about 20-25 students The Associate is part of the team that facilitates Adult Seasonal Cooking Classes, Avg attendance of 20-25 customers The Associate facilitates product launches and tasting classes, as needed. The Associate is part of promotional team that: sets up, promotes, sells goods, and tears down at experiential events out of Northgate, the hours at these events vary. The Associate is responsible for Northgate catering events both in and out of Northgate. The Associate is responsible for In-Store Experiential events. The Associate has a passion for food people and sales The Associate must be results driven The Associate must be self-motivating The Associate must possess the aptitude and ability to gain adequate knowledge of the products represented. The Associate has desire and ability to proactively intercept, engage, interact, and sell product to the consumer in a positive manner. The Associate must be able effectively communicate the features and benefits of the product. The Associate must have the ability to prepare and serve food samples using small appliances such as microwaves, fryers, skillets, coffee makers and knives. The Associate must maintain a clean, sterile and safe work station using cleaning chemicals. The Associate must maintain a professional appearance consistent with the requirements of the job, shirt is provided to associates. Achieves 100% execution on assigned work. Builds and maintains rapport with store personnel to effectively meet company and client objectives. Completes expense (mileage) reports as per Company Policy. POSITION SUMMARY The Food Enthusiast Instructor is responsible for planning, executing and overseeing all culinary classes and events for the consumer market for the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in California (CA). The Food Enthusiast Instructor is also expected to contribute to the overall operation of the college and support the mission of the CIA. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Plan, prepare and deliver public and private hands‐on culinary classes. Provide instruction and demonstrations for the Food Enthusiast (FE) programming participants in preparing delicious food in an entertaining and fun way. Demonstrate culinary techniques that are adopted as professional in standard and, in accordance with CIA professional culinary demonstrations. Partner with the FE Manager to plan consumer programming for both CA locations. Provide edits to current course material as needed to reflect food cost, seasonality and procurement challenges and update current presentations as needed. Provide curriculum maintenance, including but not limited to instructor guides, minor recipe corrections, equipment updates, and seasonality change communications to all necessary parties. Maintains a standard inventory of prep items according to the Prep Production Guide and the Display Cooking Prep Production Guide and updates the two guides as directed by management. Ensures optimum yield of products through the product cycle. Labels, dates, and rotates all bulk produce and prepped items. Ensures all food items are in approved, covered storage containers. Complete use and following of the buffet production system to insure quality and shelf life compliance. Notifies the Manager of any discrepancies; for example, food spoilage, invoice errors, excessive waste, or products that do not meet specifications. Assists the Buffet Attendant in maintaining a full, clean buffet. Cleanliness: Cleans, maintains, and organizes prep area including cooler(s), equipment, and dry storage. Performs duty roster and ensures cleanliness, service, and quality standards are met. Knows and follows position responsibilities as they relate to just-in-time delivery. JOB SUMMARY: You will provide outstanding customer service to all customers by facilitating in-store and out of store food/product demonstrations & events. You will demonstrate knowledge of products, accessories and services, and use this knowledge to build sales, practice suggestive selling & driving sales. Your primary role is to share your passion about the product you are representing and interest the customer in purchasing the product and promote Northgate at events and cooking classes and most of all...have fun while doing it!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • The Associate is responsible for completing in-store food and non-food demonstrations. Acquires and maintains knowledge of products represented. Serves, demonstrates, intercepts consumers and sells products in a professional manner. Maintains an overall professional appearance consistent with the requirements of the job.

  • The Associate is responsible for facilitating Miguelitos Cooking Classes, weekly and hosts about 20-25 students

  • The Associate is part of the team that facilitates Adult Seasonal Cooking Classes, Avg attendance of 20-25 customers

  • The Associate facilitates product launches and tasting classes, as needed.

  • The Associate is part of promotional team that: sets up, promotes, sells goods, and tears down at experiential events out of Northgate, the hours at these events vary.

  • The Associate is responsible for Northgate catering events both in and out of Northgate.

  • The Associate is responsible for In-Store Experiential events.

  • The Associate has a passion for food people and sales

  • The Associate must be results driven

  • The Associate must be self-motivating

  • The Associate must possess the aptitude and ability to gain adequate knowledge of the products represented.

  • The Associate has desire and ability to proactively intercept, engage, interact, and sell product to the consumer in a positive manner.

  • The Associate must be able effectively communicate the features and benefits of the product.

  • The Associate must have the ability to prepare and serve food samples using small appliances such as microwaves, fryers, skillets, coffee makers and knives.

  • The Associate must maintain a clean, sterile and safe work station using cleaning chemicals.

  • The Associate must maintain a professional appearance consistent with the requirements of the job, shirt is provided to associates.

  • Achieves 100% execution on assigned work.

  • Builds and maintains rapport with store personnel to effectively meet company and client objectives.

  • Completes expense (mileage) reports as per Company Policy.

  • Performs any other work-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS:

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

  • Bilingual

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • Food Safety Certificate

  • CA Driver's License

  • Self and Team motivator

  • High communication skills

  • Ability to hear, speak and understand the spoken word in order to respond promptly to pages for assistance, to accommodate verbal requests from customers for information or assistance, to answer telephones, and to be able to communicate effectively with others.

Physical Appearance: Individuals must ensure a professional appearance and proper grooming is in order. The associate must present a neat, clean, and appropriately groomed appearance. Specific Retailer Dress code requirements are included in the training documents. In addition, tattoos must not be visible while the associate is engaged in their work assignments.

Working Conditions (environment in which the job is performed): Retail store environment and outside events with some travel.
