Founded by Alice Walton in 2005, the museum opened in 2011 and is a public, non-profit charitable organization with free admission. The Momentary is a new contemporary art space that opened to the public on February 22, 2020, in downtown Bentonville, Arkansas. A satellite to Crystal Bridges, the Momentary presents visual, performing, and culinary arts. The mission of the Momentary is to champion contemporary art’s role in everyday life and explore the unfolding story of contemporary American arts in an international context by actively commissioning and exhibiting outstanding works that explore new ideas and inspire action. Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Food Programs, the Food & Community Intern will observe the creative process of curating Food and Community programming from ideation to fruition. The intern will learn the intricacies of working with community partners and facilitating small to large scale events, ranging from lectures with 40 attendees to festivals with over 1500 attendees. The intern will receive hands-on experience working with artists and partners in program areas such as creative and professional development, culinary, wellness, and community engagement. DipSide Guest Services: Preparation of shakes/malts, cups/cones of ice cream, sundaes, floats/sodas and "hand-packed" containers Efficient Operation of Point-of-Sale (POS) System: Properly authorizing and control gas sales, accurately register all transactions, handling coins/currency/credit card transactions/coupons/EBT and making change. Stocking Merchandise: Keep shelves, displays, cooler and freezers filled and faced, ensure dip cabinet is filled and appears presentable to our Guests, ensure the proper rotation of stock and check for out of code dates. Security: Maintain awareness of all Guests in the store/on the lot to minimize shoplifting and gas drive-offs, control cash levels in the register by using proper "drop" procedures, doing vendor log-in and following all steps in the Tobacco/Alcohol Management and Robbery/Violence Deterrence programs. Maintenance: Ensure the store and parking lot are kept in a safe, clean and organized condition; keep store equipment clean; monitor product and refrigeration equipment temperatures. Ensures bean-to-cup coffee machines are cleaned according to maintenance standards. Reporting: Accurate completion of time records and the Guest Preparedness Document Other duties as assigned by Management Minimum Requirements: Ability to speak, hear and understand spoken English well enough to communicate effectively with customers. Ability to become Food Safety certified subject to UDF, state food safety regulations. Ability to see well enough to operate store equipment, including POS terminal, gas console, check identification documents and to use price book. Ability to understand operating instructions for store equipment and to operate all store equipment. Ability to prepare DipSide items using supplies located in the dip cabinets. Ability to handle coins, currency, checks, credit transactions, coupons and food stamps, recognize denominations and accurately make change. Ability to recognize numbers, count and do arithmetic well enough to complete required records. Ability to move merchandise from storage to shelves/displays/freezers/milk box and place for proper display. Ability to clean counters and other surfaces. Ability to tolerate exposure to temperatures as low as –30 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 2 minutes. Ability to tolerate exposure to temperatures as low as +33 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 10 minutes. Ability to raise at least 10 pounds from floor level to a height of 5 feet. Ability to place an 8” x 10” x 10” package weighing 21 pounds into a dip cabinet, the top of which is 3 feet above the floor. The Busser/Food Runner is responsible for providing outstanding customer service when delivering food to guest tables and clearing the table after the meal is complete. This position is also responsible for setting table top before and during meal services.

Essential Job Functions

  • Serve all guests water and bread in a professional and courteous manner
  • Clear table during and after meal service
  • Assist host(ess) to ensure all menus and silverware are prepared for service
  • Effectively communicate guest needs to servers as needed
  • Clean restaurant space including tabletop, floors, and other exposed surfaces
  • Ensure condiments are properly stocked at tables and presented professionally
  • Help servers run food to tables when needed
  • Carry bus trays to the kitchen for washing and assist with washing as needed
  • Adjust table set-up as needed to accommodate large parties
  • All other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Dependable transportation to and from work
  • Language skills: Fluent knowledge of the English language; including the ability to read and interpret written information and speak and understand verbal communication

Working Conditions

  • Work environment: Upbeat, high-energy sports and event complex with heavy foot traffic and frequent large crowds. The team member will primarily work in a kitchen environment with fluctuating temperatures that can become hot, humid and/or wet, especially in the dish room areas. 
  • Physical requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be regularly required to perform physical activity that includes moving about the work area, standing, sitting, bending, reaching with hands and arms, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing and smelling. The team member will be frequently required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. He or she is required to have the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Lifting requirements: The team member will be required to lift, push, pull, lower and/or move up to 10 lbs regularly, and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
