Our exceptional person-centered programs nurture creative, productive, joyful, and healthy lives. The Cedars Food Services Manager oversees the operations of a Campus commercial kitchen, including menu planning, food preparation, cooking and clean-up. In collaboration with managers/residential staff, you will coordinate meals that will include various dietary requirements and nutritional needs. The Food Services Manager will display caring, sensitivity and flexibility in working with adults with developmental disabilities within Cedars programs. This work is fun, creative, fulfilling and challenging. Hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 5:30 AM - 1:30 PM. The rate of pay is $32/hour. For full time permanent employees, a hiring bonus of up to $1,000 will be distributed over the course of the first year of employment. Essential Functions: Menu planning Daily Meal preparation for 50 + individuals including special dietary needs Regulatory compliance of the facility to title 17 and 22 requirements Order food and supplies, develop and maintain a good working relationship with food suppliers Manage the kitchen budget with the CFO Conduct staff training on nutrition and food service policies ServSafe Food Safety and Sanitation Manager's certification desirable Willing to prepare food for Cedars events, which may be on the weekend or in the evening. Requirements Experience working with developmentally disabled people is preferred. Minimum of 3 years Food Service experience including planning menus; ordering supplies, food and produce; maintaining nutrition and food safety standards and overseeing the general operation of a commercial kitchen. Experience in leading, advising, organizing, and motivating groups of people. Have current Servsafe Food Safety and Sanitation Manager's certifications or the ability/willingness to obtain both. Ability to pass an employment physical including a TB test, and to meet the physical requirements of the job. A valid DMV driver's license, a minimum of 3 years of driving experience. CPR and First Aid certifications or the willingness to acquire both. Ability to pass a criminal background check with the FBI and DOJ. Ability to communicate effectively in English (spoken and written). Computer proficiency, including the use of Email, MS Word, Excel, and Teams. A good sense of humor is a big plus! You have adequate knowledge of computer systems and is comfortable using them. You are process driven and has ability to follow procedures in an organized and efficient way. Ability to stay calm while working in a fast-paced environment. Desire to work with customers on a consistent basis. You have the ability to lift up to 50lb boxes. The ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend and twist while handling product. The ability to stand for long periods of time. Knowledge of the operation of a fork lift and pallet jack is a plus.

Job Description

Cedars of Marin provides day programs and residential opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities. Our exceptional person-centered programs nurture creative, productive, joyful, and healthy lives.

The Cedars Food Services Manager oversees the operations of a Campus commercial kitchen, including menu planning, food preparation, cooking and clean-up. In collaboration with managers/residential staff, you will coordinate meals that will include various dietary requirements and nutritional needs. The Food Services Manager will display caring, sensitivity and flexibility in working with adults with developmental disabilities within Cedars programs. This work is fun, creative, fulfilling and challenging.

Hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 5:30 AM - 1:30 PM. The rate of pay is $32/hour. For full time permanent employees, a hiring bonus of up to $1,000 will be distributed over the course of the first year of employment.

Essential Functions:

  • Menu planning
  • Daily Meal preparation for 50 + individuals including special dietary needs
  • Regulatory compliance of the facility to title 17 and 22 requirements
  • Order food and supplies, develop and maintain a good working relationship with food suppliers
  • Manage the kitchen budget with the CFO
  • Conduct staff training on nutrition and food service policies
  • ServSafe Food Safety and Sanitation Manager's certification desirable
  • Willing to prepare food for Cedars events, which may be on the weekend or in the evening.

Requirements

  • Experience working with developmentally disabled people is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years Food Service experience including planning menus; ordering supplies, food and produce; maintaining nutrition and food safety standards and overseeing the general operation of a commercial kitchen.
  • Experience in leading, advising, organizing, and motivating groups of people.
  • Have current Servsafe Food Safety and Sanitation Manager's certifications or the ability/willingness to obtain both.
  • Ability to pass an employment physical including a TB test, and to meet the physical requirements of the job.
  • A valid DMV driver's license, a minimum of 3 years of driving experience.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications or the willingness to acquire both.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check with the FBI and DOJ.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (spoken and written).
  • Computer proficiency, including the use of Email, MS Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • A good sense of humor is a big plus!
