The successful candidate will provide academic leadership and high-quality instruction in Early Childhood Education courses while guiding the launch and development of the program in alignment with college and community needs. This full-time position reports to the Dean of the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education. Major Responsibilities Instructional Duties Teach assigned courses according to the college's loading policy and established course objectives. Develop and maintain curriculum materials, including syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and assessments. Facilitate learning experiences across lecture, lab, and field placements. Monitor and support student performance through advising, alerts, interventions, and referrals. According to college policy, please maintain accurate student records, grades, and documentation. Hold regular office and student engagement hours per ASOM 7.2 - Faculty Loading Guidelines. Participate in recruitment, retention, and student success initiatives. Program Leadership & Administration Oversee program development and implementation, including scheduling, field experiences, and curriculum review. Coordinate with local early learning providers for student placements. Lead and maintain a program advisory committee with broad industry representation. Analyze retention and completion data; implement strategies to improve outcomes. Support NAEYC or relevant accreditation efforts and reporting requirements. Manage instructional supplies, equipment, and budgets in alignment with college guidelines. Participate in statewide program leadership discussions, if applicable. Institutional & Community Engagement Participate in college-wide meetings, committees, professional development, and student events such as commencement. Represent the program in community partnerships and local advisory initiatives. Collaborate with Workforce Alignment, Ivy Tech Foundation, and employers to strengthen program relevance and student career pipelines. Adjunct Faculty Oversight Recruit, onboard, support, and evaluate adjunct instructors in collaboration with HR and the department. Provide mentorship and serve as a point of contact for adjunct and dual credit faculty teaching Early Childhood Education courses. Additional Information This position is fully funded by the Lilly Endowment Early Childhood Education Grant and will run from August 2025 through December 31, 2027. This role is co-teaching 9th grade Match (Algebra I) and supporting a caseload of Special Education students. The compensation for Match teaching positions ranges from $61,812-$98,899 and is based on a candidate's prior years of teaching experience. Facilitate a 1 Hour 35 minute remote session via Teams each week at a specified day and time. Throughout each session, provide approximately 10 - 12 hours per week of instruction. This includes facilitating a weekly live session via Teams, discussion, grading student work, checking email, engaging in personalized retention efforts and outreach to support student success, and answering student inquiries. Respond to all outreach (email, text, calls, etc.) from students, supervisors, colleagues, etc. within 48-hours. This includes responding to inquires in the "Ask Your Instructor" forum in each section. Demonstrate the ability to apply the Seven Principles for Good Practice in Undergraduate Education, which will be evaluated through informal and formal observations annually. These observations are completed using tools such as midsession checks, yearly formal evaluations, etc. The seven principles are: Encourage contact between students and faculty, Develop reciprocity and cooperation among students, Encourage active learning, Give prompt feedback, Emphasize time on task, Communicate high expectations, and Respect diverse talents and ways of learning. Ensure the grade book is updated each week no later than 11:59 pm, ET the day before your Teams session. Review student work, adhere to grading rubrics, and provide detailed, individualized feedback. If grading is completed early in the week, review the grade book again before the grading deadline to ensure all submissions have been graded and zeroes have been reverted (if applicable). Ensure zeroes are entered weekly for students who do not submit assignment(s) by the due date. Late work submitted according to the late policy should be graded within one week of submission. It is not to be left until the end of the course. Ensure that zeroes are reverted each week for work that was submitted late. Meet final grades deadline for each course each session. Meet with FAs and/or PMs as requested, for coaching, performance improvement, and/or professional development Utilize provided retention tools weekly from weeks 2 - 15 to monitor at-risk students, communicate with students and their advisors (observers), and document outreach attempts. Utilize active learning strategies, authentic assessment, and APA guidelines in the classroom. Encourage student usage of electronic portfolio assignments to support the teaching and learning outcomes of the college. Follow the college's plagiarism policy to promote academic integrity in all courses, no matter what level or subject matter. Understand the college's rigor standards, active learning strategies, best practices in Remote teaching, and Bloom's Taxonomy standards and be able to apply them to the classroom. Comply with all student ADA accommodations provided by the ADA Coordinator Encourage student participation in student survey/faculty evaluation within each course and routinely download and review survey responses after each session. Administrative Requirements Outside of Teaching Maintain current knowledge of teaching disciplines/fields of study and best practices in distance education through professional development opportunities and provide documentation to B&SC as required Participate in all required live and asynchronous faculty meetings to stay eligible for scheduling in the upcoming semesters (course assignments are based on student enrollment and are never guaranteed). This is required even if someone is not actively teaching each semester. Missing 2 consecutive faculty meetings without approval from the Program Manager may result in alleviation of adjunct status. The Supervisor of Special Education will ensure that the school is providing appropriate programs in the least restrictive environment for all students with special needs. This will include management of the pre-referral and IEP processes, maintain student data, communicate with parents, locate and contract with service providers throughout the state, and ensure that the school always operates in compliance with special education law and procedures. Responsibilities Support in monitoring compliance with special education processes and timelines across all schools. The role is set to begin in July 2025 and is a 30 hour per week role that includes weekends and evenings as needed Work collaboratively with the Director of Adult Faith Formation and the Religious Education Assistant and other members of the Pastoral Team to help provide an encounter with Christ to the parish. Coordinator of Children's Religious Education ages Kindergarten through 8th grade and OCIC. The responsibility of the coordinator is for the ongoing development, implementation and management of the religious education program, which will include, but is not limited to: academic formation, sacramental preparation for Penance, First Eucharist, and Confirmation, seasonal liturgical/spiritual formation, catechist recruitment and training, Children's Liturgy of the Word and Order of Christian Initiation for Children. Job Description

Ivy Tech Community College - Valparaiso Campus seeks an experienced and passionate educator to serve as Program Chair and Faculty for its new Early Childhood Education program. The successful candidate will provide academic leadership and high-quality instruction in Early Childhood Education courses while guiding the launch and development of the program in alignment with college and community needs. This full-time position reports to the Dean of the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education.

Major Responsibilities

Instructional Duties

  • Teach assigned courses according to the college's loading policy and established course objectives. Develop and maintain curriculum materials, including syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and assessments. Facilitate learning experiences across lecture, lab, and field placements. Monitor and support student performance through advising, alerts, interventions, and referrals. According to college policy, please maintain accurate student records, grades, and documentation. Hold regular office and student engagement hours per ASOM 7.2 - Faculty Loading Guidelines. Participate in recruitment, retention, and student success initiatives.

Program Leadership & Administration

  • Oversee program development and implementation, including scheduling, field experiences, and curriculum review. Coordinate with local early learning providers for student placements.
  • Lead and maintain a program advisory committee with broad industry representation. Analyze retention and completion data; implement strategies to improve outcomes. Support NAEYC or relevant accreditation efforts and reporting requirements. Manage instructional supplies, equipment, and budgets in alignment with college guidelines. Participate in statewide program leadership discussions, if applicable.

Institutional & Community Engagement

  • Participate in college-wide meetings, committees, professional development, and student events such as commencement. Represent the program in community partnerships and local advisory initiatives. Collaborate with Workforce Alignment, Ivy Tech Foundation, and employers to strengthen program relevance and student career pipelines.

Adjunct Faculty Oversight

  • Recruit, onboard, support, and evaluate adjunct instructors in collaboration with HR and the department. Provide mentorship and serve as a point of contact for adjunct and dual credit faculty teaching Early Childhood Education courses.

Additional Information

This position is fully funded by the Lilly Endowment Early Childhood Education Grant and will run from August 2025 through December 31, 2027. Continued employment beyond this period is contingent upon additional funding or program sustainability.

Minimum Qualifications

To meet the Early Childhood Education Faculty Credential Standard (ASOM - 7.1.1), a qualified candidate must have:

  • A master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Early Childhood Education or Child Development,

OR

  • A master's degree or higher in a related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, and one of the following:
  • Professional certification in the field, OR
  • At least two years of directly related work experience in early childhood settings (birth-age 8).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Indiana early learning standards and licensing requirements.
  • Experience coordinating field placements and conducting onsite visits.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and supporting inclusive learning environments.
  • CDA Professional Development Specialist Credential (or willingness to obtain it).
