This is a part-time opportunity, approximately 20 - 25 hours per week. Birth to Three provides early intervention services in home to children and their families. We work directly with children on areas of development to bring the child up to age level while coaching parents and providing them tools and strategies to assist in bring the child up to the desired development level. The Teacher-Special Education completes eligibility evaluations on children with developmental concerns and provides early intervention services, as a team member, to families with children who qualify for the program. Provides early intervention services designed to enhance child development within the context of family, focusing on strategies that promote parent-child interaction and functional skill development. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. Completes eligibility evaluations and assessments as assigned. Works as a team member, demonstrating expertise as an early childhood special educator, to assist families in fostering the development and learning of their child. Focuses on family driven priorities as the foundation for development of outcomes and the implementation of services. Provides ideas, strategies, and techniques to families and team members to enhance the child's development within the context of their everyday lives. All ideas, strategies, and techniques focus on improving developmental skills that improve the child's ability to function within daily routines. Provides services in such a way that takes into account that a child's greatest resource is the family. Works in partnership with parents in any activity that serves their child. Expected to understand productivity expectations and meet those standards that have been established for the role and the program Provides services to families through support and adult learning, helping families to identify strengths, maximize parent-child interactions, and work toward fostering the development of their child. Participates as an active team member in IFSP meetings. Participates in staff meetings to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate services provided in order to meet "best practice" criteria and the needs of participants and their families. This includes identifying and utilizing materials that are accessible and familiar to the family. Coordinates services through consultation and collaboration with other professionals. Establishes and maintains effective public and working relationships with other staff, families, volunteers, and community organizations. Provides services at times and locations convenient for families. Attends team meetings and completes all paperwork and data entry as required to perform the above duties. Participates in professional development to ensure fidelity of practice. Performs other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's degree in Special Education in early childhood is required. Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations governing Birth to Three Programs. Ability to complete continuing education as required by this program, professional organizations and /or regulatory agencies. Knowledge of the philosophy and delivery of early intervention services. Considerable knowledge of modern principles and practices used in early childhood special educator for children and their families. Working knowledge of techniques that promote positive behavior and success in young children. Working knowledge of techniques and strategies effective for adult learning (parents and care providers). The ability to establish effective working relationships with all stakeholders. An ability to work with diverse populations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to perform the essential duties of the role; a motor vehicle check (MVR) with a satisfactory driving record per the LSS Driver Safety Procedure is required, and ability to meet LSS auto insurance requirements. An 808 or 809 early childhood special educator license from the State of Wisconsin is required. TRAVEL: Daily travel is required for this position. Some overnight travel may be required. Distribute and collect all relevant documents from worksites, including timesheets, evaluations, and reflections, and ensure accuracy and completion to meet strict deadlines. Monitor and review incident reports and informs the Program Director of all incidents. Troubleshoot any issues that may arise at worksites and help participants and employers reach a mutual agreement upon resolutions. Responsible for the entry of SYEP/WLG participant timesheets and signing them at the end of the pay period. Participate in the distribution of debit cards to participants. Light administrative duties include making phone calls, outreach, emailing, faxing, copying, and making packets. Maintain and update all participants’ employment files. Participate in weekly meetings with the Youth Workforce team. Attend staff meetings and professional development training as required. Complete Basecamp check-ins twice per day. Assist with other department duties and projects as needed. Requirements: Ability and patience to work with youth, particularly in group settings. Travel within NYC: use public transportation or traverse city streets, occasionally ascend/descend stairs, and be exposed to outside weather conditions. Ability to work with the public and/or youth. The certified diabetes care and education specialist (CDCES) delivers comprehensive and seamless services that bridge the gap and integrate clinical and self-management aspects of diabetes and endocrinology care. The CDCES is an integral part of the care team and provides collaborative, comprehensive and person- centered care, and education conducive to behavior change and improved quality of life across the lifespan. The CDCES supports and advocates for people affected by diabetes to optimize quality care. The CDCES promotes self-management to achieve individualized behavioral and treatment goals that reduce risks and optimize health outcomes. Job Description

Lutheran Social Services of WI & Upper MI is currently seeking an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher to join our team serving the Waukesha County Birth to Three program.

This is a part-time opportunity, approximately 20 - 25 hours per week.

Birth to Three provides early intervention services in home to children and their families. We work directly with children on areas of development to bring the child up to age level while coaching parents and providing them tools and strategies to assist in bring the child up to the desired development level.

The Teacher-Special Education completes eligibility evaluations on children with developmental concerns and provides early intervention services, as a team member, to families with children who qualify for the program. Provides early intervention services designed to enhance child development within the context of family, focusing on strategies that promote parent-child interaction and functional skill development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completes eligibility evaluations and assessments as assigned.
  • Works as a team member, demonstrating expertise as an early childhood special educator, to assist families in fostering the development and learning of their child.
  • Focuses on family driven priorities as the foundation for development of outcomes and the implementation of services.
  • Provides ideas, strategies, and techniques to families and team members to enhance the child's development within the context of their everyday lives. All ideas, strategies, and techniques focus on improving developmental skills that improve the child's ability to function within daily routines.
  • Provides services in such a way that takes into account that a child's greatest resource is the family. Works in partnership with parents in any activity that serves their child.
  • Expected to understand productivity expectations and meet those standards that have been established for the role and the program
  • Provides services to families through support and adult learning, helping families to identify strengths, maximize parent-child interactions, and work toward fostering the development of their child.
  • Participates as an active team member in IFSP meetings.
  • Participates in staff meetings to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate services provided in order to meet "best practice" criteria and the needs of participants and their families. This includes identifying and utilizing materials that are accessible and familiar to the family.
  • Coordinates services through consultation and collaboration with other professionals.
  • Establishes and maintains effective public and working relationships with other staff, families, volunteers, and community organizations.
  • Provides services at times and locations convenient for families.
  • Attends team meetings and completes all paperwork and data entry as required to perform the above duties.
  • Participates in professional development to ensure fidelity of practice.
  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Special Education in early childhood is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working as an early childhood special educator, to include experience working with families and children with disabilities in natural environments.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations governing Birth to Three Programs.
  • Ability to complete continuing education as required by this program, professional organizations and /or regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of the philosophy and delivery of early intervention services.
  • Considerable knowledge of modern principles and practices used in early childhood special educator for children and their families.
  • Working knowledge of techniques that promote positive behavior and success in young children.
  • Working knowledge of techniques and strategies effective for adult learning (parents and care providers).
  • The ability to establish effective working relationships with all stakeholders. An ability to work with diverse populations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Must have a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to perform the essential duties of the role; a motor vehicle check (MVR) with a satisfactory driving record per the LSS Driver Safety Procedure is required, and ability to meet LSS auto insurance requirements.
  • An 808 or 809 early childhood special educator license from the State of Wisconsin is required.

TRAVEL: Daily travel is required for this position. Some overnight travel may be required.
