Job Description
Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced nursing care and clinical expertise to patients across the lifespan. This role involves diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions, prescribing medications, and promoting health and wellness through patient education and preventive care. The NP works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical exams and health histories.
· Diagnose and manage common acute and chronic illnesses.
· Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests (e.g., lab work, imaging).
· Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans in accordance with state regulations.
· Provide patient education on disease prevention, health maintenance, and treatment options.
· Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
· Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records (EHR).
· Adhere to all clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
· Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education.
Qualifications
· Education: Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
· Licensure: Current Nurse Practitioner license in Alaska, with prescriptive authority.
· Certification: National certification as an NP (e.g., AANP, ANCC).
· Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience preferred.
· Skills: Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
