Based in Palmer, McFarlane Alaska specializes in parts and performance modifications supporting bush flying (STOL), designing, manufacturing, and distributing high-quality aircraft parts for the aviation market. With over 50 years of combined experience, the team is committed to delivering superior parts with exceptional, old-fashioned customer service.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Aluminum Strut Production Technician inspects raw materials and completed components, operates a CNC router using established programs, tooling, fixtures, and setups prepared by a CNC setup machinist, cleans and deburrs components, and assembles finished aluminum struts according to drawings and work instructions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Produce parts according to specifications and quality standards while meeting established production schedules
- Inspect incoming raw materials for damage, defects, and conformance to requirements
- Operate the CNC router using established programs, tooling, fixtures, and machine setups
- Monitor machine operation and report tooling, equipment, or part-quality concerns
- Inspect completed parts using appropriate measuring equipment to verify conformance to specified tolerances
- Clean and deburr components according to drawings and work instructions
- Assemble finished aluminum struts according to established procedures and quality requirements
- Recommend process or equipment adjustments when necessary to improve quality or production performance
- Troubleshoot basic equipment and production issues and perform routine equipment maintenance as directed
- Update work orders and complete required production documentation
- Perform quality-control inspections, follow applicable reporting and recordkeeping procedures, and report problems to the manager
- Clean machinery and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous machine-operating or manufacturing experience is preferred; similar relevant experience will also be considered
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work
- Ability to quickly learn and retain processes and procedures
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned work with minimal supervision
- Ability to read and follow drawings, work instructions, and production documentation
- Proficiency with common shop equipment, hand and power tools, and measuring devices
- Forklift experience or the ability to obtain forklift certification
- Consistent punctuality and attendance, a strong work ethic, and a desire to continually develop new skills
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills, with a self-directed and team-oriented approach
