This organization is a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance magnetometers, directional sensors, and electronic systems used in oil and gas exploration as well as scientific applications.

We are seeking a QA Mechanical Inspector to join our team in Mountain View, CA! Mountain View is a vibrant city in the heart of Silicon Valley, known for its beautiful parks, innovative tech scene, and diverse community.

Summary

Conduct in-process inspection of materials and sub-assemblies, incoming inspection of raw materials and products from outside suppliers, document discrepant materials, and process according to ISO procedures. Perform final inspections, clean, and prepare products for shipment. Complete appropriate documentation such as Certificates of Compliance (CoC) and Certificates of Inspection (CoI) when necessary. Document and maintain QC files and databases for MRP.

Maintain standards, documentation, and monthly QA inspection reports in compliance with ISO 9001 (current ISO 9001-2015). Handle very fragile components and adapt quickly to multiple lines of new products, including very small, delicate, and expensive items. Efficiently inspect new, one-off, and customer parts at all stages of manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical inspection of finished machined parts.
• Proficient in all mechanical inspection tools (calipers, height gauge, surface finish gauge, thread gauges, pin gauges, etc.).
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings with a good working knowledge of machine shop equipment.
• Communicate in English with Manufacturing and Engineering in verbal and written form, and document inspection results in the required format, including DMR.
• Understand and comprehend quality documentation such as procedures, inspection plans, work instructions, and quality assurance specifications.
• Understand Out of Box inspection process and vendor audit process.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience in a machine shop. Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, and scales.

Education/Experience

AA degree or equivalent experience.

Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Math Ability

Basic math and geometry skills required.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

Able to navigate through Windows-based PC systems. Data entry skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel are a plus.
