Perform, direct, and coordinate activities involved in design, analysis, fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Review customer statement of work (SOW) documents, specifications, and manuals to ensure all requirements are met or exceeded for projects involving new product design, hardware modification, and engineering analyses. Design components of mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, pneumatic, or heat transfer systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and structures. Prepare or direct preparation of product or system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics. Perform engineering analyses of components and systems using finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), classical hand calculations, and other methods. Assist in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems. Actively participate in product testing. Assist in fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to required industry and government standards, as well as customer specifications. Coordinate maintenance and repair activities. Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions, as well as improve system performance. Work with Technical Publications Group to revise and create Technical Orders, Manuals, and other documentation. Assist in developing quotes and technical proposals. Stay current on engineering software capabilities and techniques, as well as physical testing methods. Work to stay within project budgets and schedules.
