Job Summary

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports manufacturing operations across the Anderson facilities by driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency. Working closely with Production, Quality, Safety, Maintenance, Design Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering teams, this role identifies and implements process improvements that support operational and business objectives.

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports the implementation and sustainment of manufacturing processes, conducts process analysis and time studies, develops and maintains standard work and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and leads Lean Manufacturing initiatives. The role provides technical engineering support through CAD modifications, equipment and tool specifications, process documentation, and quality improvement activities, including root cause analysis and corrective actions. This position manages small projects, designs and implements carts, racks, fixtures, and other manufacturing aids that improve workflow, ergonomics, safety, and productivity, and serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives. The role may provide guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentorship to Manufacturing Engineering Technicians and other team members. Reporting to the Sr. Manufacturing Engineering Supervisors, the Sr. Manufacturing Engineering Technician serves as a technical resource and collaborative partner in fostering a safe, efficient, and continuously improving manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Safety, Health, and Operations teams to ensure production areas are properly equipped and maintained with appropriate tooling, fixtures, and communication of engineering changes.
  • Implement and sustain new manufacturing processes.
  • Partner with Design Engineering to support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) initiatives and monitor engineering project milestones to ensure successful production integration.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineers with new equipment specifications.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineers with Capital Appropriation Request (CAR) development and documentation.
  • Modify existing CAD drawings and provide engineering support.
  • Analyze manufacturing and quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve process performance.
  • Lead Lean initiatives and drive operational improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Support and promote safety training initiatives while reinforcing compliance with safety standards and best practices.
  • Lead process optimization efforts focused on cost reduction, waste elimination, and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Lead small projects and cross-functional improvement teams while providing technical expertise, guidance, and mentorship.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve process documentation, standard work, SOPs, and process control systems to support quality, consistency, continuous improvement, and compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for manufacturing processes, tooling, and continuous improvement initiatives; provide guidance and mentorship to Manufacturing Engineering Technicians and other team members.
  • Implement appropriation requests for machines, software, and tooling through written documentation with supporting business and technical justification.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes and work practices comply with company policies, safety standards, quality requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical manufacturing function such as Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Industrial Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Strong ability to read, write, and maintain technical documentation including SOPs, standard work instructions, process documentation, and engineering records.
  • Experience in CAD software and the ability to interpret, modify, and maintain engineering drawings.
  • Ability to work effectively in a large and complex production environment spanning multiple facilities and shifts.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, initiative, and accountability with a focus on continuous improvement and achieving results.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of 5S, Lean Manufacturing principles, SPC methodologies, root cause analysis techniques, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to coordinate and lead small projects and cross-functional improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentorship to team members.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety practices, quality systems, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve manufacturing issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience utilizing ERP, MRP, PLM, or similar enterprise systems within engineering or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting new product introductions (NPI), process transfers, equipment installations, or manufacturing process launches.
  • Experience with capital equipment justification, appropriation requests, and manufacturing project implementation.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or related continuous improvement certifications.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move throughout manufacturing and office environments for extended periods.
  • Frequent walking, standing, and occasional climbing of stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform visual inspections of equipment and processes.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use a computer, keyboard, and other office equipment for extended periods.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe footwear, and other site-specific PPE.
  • Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment, forklifts, moving machinery, and production operations.
  • Visual acuity is sufficient to review technical drawings, specifications, data, and production processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, contractors, and leadership in both office and production settings.

Work Environment

  • Split work environment between office and manufacturing production areas.
  • Exposure to moderate noise, varying temperatures, dust, and other conditions typical of a manufacturing facility.
  • Occasional travel between departments, production lines, warehouses, or other company locations as needed.
